Animal Selfie and Efficacy Padlet
My Reflections
I was reflecting on my way home about the line of progression and our sense of efficacy. I observed in my group a couple of things. 1. When we were handed our problems we felt good because they were ELA based, and even though diagramming sentences was difficult we stuck to it (I am guessing because our own sense of efficacy was high). 2. As soon as we turned the page to math, we all stepped back from the problem, like physically went from a tight knit group working an ELA problem, to a group of women who did not want to be responsible for the math (thank you Inga and Julie). My reasoning for our change in behavior was that we lacked efficacy in math to begin with, so there for we gave up easily.
I wonder about our experiences and how it connects to our students. The idea of grit, or growth mindset, is important especially for students who do not have a strong sense of efficacy in a subject, or in school in general. This is something for us to think on and an idea we can share with our students as well.

4th Grade (and friends) Differentiation
My Reflections
I am really, really proud of the steps our staff is taking in regards to differentiation. Not a day goes by that Erika and I do not see some form whether it be guided reading, book clubs, or guided math. I encourage us all to continue to ask questions, explore resources, and take risks when it comes to differentiating for our students - it is ultimately what we are here to do:)
