WHAT'S GOING ON IN PE, MUSIC/ART AND TECHNOLOGY?
PE FIT BITS
In October, we will be working on health lessons, fitness, and learning about our muscles and bones! It’s important for our students to start learning healthy eating habits at a young age so that it is second nature as we get older and so we can live longer, healthier lives.
Please remember that if your child wears boots, dress shoes, flats, etc, that they must bring tennis shoes to change into if it is their PE day. Anything other than tennis shoes is a danger and safety is a big priority in the gym.
MUSIC NOTES
We are looking forward to our Veterans Day program on November 5th. It is an evening performance at the High School Performing Arts Center. The program will begin at 7 p.m. Be on the lookout for a permission slip in the coming weeks. Please have your child practice on the songs that have been sent home. It is a great way to honor our Veterans.
Fun Fact Question – Which is the correct spelling of Veterans Day?
a. Veterans Day
b. Veteran’s Day
c. Veterans’ Day
A. Veterans Day is the correct answer. Veterans Day does not include an apostrophe but does include an "s" at the end of "veterans" because it is not a day that "belongs" to veterans, it is a day for honoring all veterans.
COMPUTER BYTES
This month we will be focusing on keyboarding skills. Students will enjoy friendly competition with other students and staff as they try to level up in Ghost Typing. Students learning the keyboard is a "booo-tiful" thing to see as this skill will follow them throughout their education and career. Feel free to join our competition by logging onto: https://www.abcya.com/games/ghost_typing_jr for K-2 and
https://www.abcya.com/games/ghost_typing for 3-adult.
Be sure to practice proper fingerings and posture as it will "haunt" you later if you don't by slowing you down and affecting your accuracy.
Our Digital Citizenship lesson this month will be helping students to find a balance between online times and offline times. Its easy to allow technology to take over our lives. For more information and ideas on how to create balance CommonSense.org has many great resources and advice to help with students of all ages.
