Questions every Parent Should Ask at Parent/Teacher Conferences
2. How is my child doing socially? Is my child kind? Does he/she interact well with peers? Does he/she have a good group of friends?
3. How is my child doing emotionally? Does he/she seem happy at school? Are there signs of moodiness? Is he/she outgoing? Withdrawn?
4. In what areas does my child need to improve? This could include academics and behaviors.
5. What do you think my child is good at? What are his/her area of strength?
6. Is my child performing on, below, or above grade level?
7. Does my child put forth his/her best effort? Does he participate in class discussions? Does he complete his class work? Homework?
8. Is there an area where my child could use extra help? How can I provide her with that extra help?
9. What is the best way to contact you if I have a concern? Is it best to email the teacher? Call? How would the teacher best like you to communicate concerns?
10. Is there anything I can do to help from home?
** Remember, parents and teachers are on the same team....Team Student! It is important to foster open dialogue between you and the teacher to benefit your child.

Skills Today's Kids Need for The Future
2. Applying empathy and design skills. Machines may be taking over the world, but one thing machines can't do is provide empathy and understanding that design things that provide enjoyment and excitement for humans.
3. The ability to communicate complex ideas. While STEM is becoming a rapidly popular content area, many students graduating with STEM degrees are having difficulty finding employment. Instead, the ability to communicate ideas clearly has become increasingly important. Combining these STEM related skills with a ability to communicate is key for the future.
4. Collaborating and working in teams. The nature of work has changed from an independent focus to a collaborative focus amongst many people with different skill sets. Today's children need to focus on how they play, resolve conflicts, and make others feel empowered and supportive for the future.
The most important thing for us to realize is that our children's academic experience should not be a mirror of our own. Our world is changing and it's important that our skill sets change to ensure our children are prepared for the future workforce.

Middle School Debate Team
First Debate Tournament
Parents reported that our students were the perfect example of "team". They supported and encouraged each other, stood outside of rooms waiting for each other, and stuck together throughout the entire competition. These are the things we are so proud of at St. Patrick School!
Congratulations to Tanner and Wyatt for earning 2nd place and Alejandro and Emmerson for earning 3rd place. We are so proud of ALL of you!
