Greetings Husky Students and Families,
Happy New Year from the entire Hearne Elementary Staff!
We are excited to have completed the first semester of our school year. We could not do it without you. Thank you for helping your students arrive on time and prepared each day. Our staff members are committed to meeting your student needs and helping each student grow academically and socially.
Tutorials for 2nd-4th grade students began this month. Information was shared through your child's teacher.
All 1st-4th grade students receive additional targeted support in reading and math each school day from 8:00-8:30 AM. To ensure your child is able to receive this intervention, please make sure your student arrives on time, before 7:55 AM.
Dress code update
Alief ISD is a uniform school district. Students are permitted to wear a Hearne spirit shirt on Wednesdays and a college/university shirt on Fridays this year. Jeans will be permitted with a spirit shirt on Wednesday and college shirt on Friday!

Encourage your student: See Something, Say Something!
Please help us by encouraging your student to speak up and share anything that may be considered unsafe. The more we know, the better and faster our response can be.
Throughout the year, we practice drills with our students as well. To establish clear language for everyone, we use the Standard Response Protocol for our campus drills. See the picture and video below so you can see first-hand what students and staff are responsible for doing during each drill.
Thank you for your help in making our campus a safe place!
Yes, we are a dress code campus!

Bus Riders will use a SMART Tag!
In just three easy steps, you and your child can have peace of mind knowing that they are safe and sound on their way to and from school. The SMART Tag electronic bus transportation system ensures that students get on the right bus and get off at the right stop.
SMARTER AND SAFER BUS TRANSPORTATION
- Students are issued new school ID cards with an electronic chip SMART sensor
- School busses are equipped with a SMART Tag reader that riders swipe when loading and unloading
- The tablet will display whether the rider is boarding the correct bus or getting off at the right stop
