Georgia Milestones Assessment

All of our students will take the Georgia Milestones Assessment during the weeks of April 18-27, 2016. The Georgia Milestones will include test items in all academic subject areas: English/Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies.

  • Monday, 4/18, English/Language Arts
  • Tuesday, 4/19, Writing
  • Thursday, 4/21, Mathematics
  • Tuesday, 4/26, Science
  • Wednesday, 4/27, Social Studies
  • Make-Up Days (4/20, 4/22, 4/25/4/28)

Sixth grade students will take the printed version of the Georgia Milestones. Seventh and eighth grade students will test online. Online test practice sessions have been scheduled during the school day to provide seventh and eighth grade students the opportunity to acquaint themselves with the online platform prior to the actual test administration.

In order to be promoted to the ninth grade, The online practice site can also be accessed at home at http://www.gaexperienceonilne.com and does not require a log-in.

in addition to the established academic promotion requirements, eighth grade students must receive a grade level reading determination of “On/Above Grade Level” on the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade Assessment and attain an achievement level of “Developing Learner”, “Proficient Learner”, or “Distinguished Learner” on the mathematics section of the Georgia Milestones End-of-Grade Assessment.

The Georgia Milestones are designed to provide information about how well students are mastering the state adopted content standards. Scores are used to make instructional decisions, determine student placement in courses, and guide school improvement efforts. Your support and encouragement play an important role in student success.

The following are recommendations and reminders to help your child during the weeks of testing:

  • Make sure your child is present at school and on time each day. Students who are tardy will not be allowed to disrupt the test administration.
  • Please do not check your child out from school during the testing period. Classes that are testing will not be interrupted.
  • Please do not schedule orthodontist, dental, or other appointments during testing dates and times.
  • Encourage your child to get a good night’s sleep and to eat a nutritious breakfast each morning.
  • Make sure your child has two #2 sharpened wood pencils for testing each day.
  • Cell phones and/or other electronic devices are not allowed in classrooms during testing sessions. Students are not permitted to use, or bring into the testing environment, any electronic device that could allow them to access, retain, or transmit information. Calculators will be provided on portions of the mathematics assessment as permitted.

Score reports will be sent home with explanatory information regarding how to read and interpret your child’s scores after they become available. Thank you for your support and interest in helping your child to do his/her very best on the Georgia Milestones!
