Player News!
Happy New Year! I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and had a restful time at home during the break. We are slowly getting back into the routine of school, but glad to be back! It is cold but the children don't seem to mind. They all look happy to be back as well.
Please let me remind all of you to log into your child's Google Classroom. The teachers have set up the classrooms for any student who is at home either because of isolation or for those who have chosen to stay home for a bit for precautionary measures. We are also keeping our Google Classrooms up to date and ready in the event that we do have to isolate a full classroom due to exposure. We certainly hope that doesn't happen but we must be prepared in case it does.
If you do not have any device that your child can use at home, please call the office so we can try to issue you a chromebook to use while your child is home. We are limited on how many we have to distribute, but we will do our best to get one to anyone who needs it.
The first few weeks of January are usually too cold to go outdoors, but if the temperature rises somewhat, we will still go outside even for a short time. The fresh air and exercise is good for all of us. Please make sure that your child has a hat and gloves, along with a winter coat. Also, if you have not already done so, please make sure that the change of clothing we have in the classroom is appropriate for this weather.

Getting to Know You

Covid Updates
I know there are a lot of concerns about the rising numbers of Covid cases throughout the area and the school district. We continue to do all that we can to keep children and staff safe. The protocol for any person with symptoms has remained stringent. Should anyone in the building shows symptoms, they must be sent home and asked to isolate themselves and/or take a Covid test. Although the CDC has recommended that individuals with Covid isolate for only 5 days now, the Illinois State Board of Education has not yet adopted this plan. We are continuing to have individuals isolate for a 10 day period if they test positive. If someone is symptomatic and chooses not to test, then they must isolate for 14 days before returning to school. We have found that this process has continued to keep others safe and there have been minimal cases here at Player School. If the Illinois State Board of Education adopts the current CDC recommendations, we will let families know at that time. As has been the case, these recommendations and guidelines have been continually changing.
