Panther Writing Lab

Tuesday, March 29th, 3:30pm

CHS Lab 2407

What: An opportunity for extra help on writing assignments, including help planning and editing.

When: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 - 4:30

Where: Computer Lab 2407

Students must come to the lab with an assignment they need help with, not just a skill.

Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)

Seniors: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is now availavle for seniors planning to attend a college, university or technical school. Applications are available at www.fafsa.gov. The FAFSA must be completed in order to be considered for the AR Academic Challenge Scholarship, aka the Lottery Scholarship.

Medallions

Seniors - IMPORTANT - The list of Seniors receiving Medallions for graduation is listed on the board in front of the office. Please go by ASAP and check the list. If you have any questions or concerns, please go to the counseling center.

Swim Team Tryouts

High School Swim Team tryouts will take place April 4th- April 8th from 4pm-5:30pm at the Cabot Community Center. If you are interested in trying out, please sign up outside of Coach Wadley's Room 1501 by March 31st.

Kickball Tournament

Sports Medicine Club will be hosting a Co-ed Kickball tournament Saturday April 2nd. Teams will be comprised of 9-12 players with a minimum of 4 girls per team. Entry fee per team will be $50. Pick up an entry form packet in Mrs. Rich's Room, Champs Hall 102. Packets will be due March 29th. Awards will be given for overall winner, Best Team Name and Best Dressed.

Student Council

Are you wanting to get involved and make a difference in the school? If so, come by and pick up an application for Student Council. All applications are available now and must be turned into Mrs. Rowe by March 29th at 3:30. Representative elections for the 2016/2017 school year will be on Friday, April 1st.

Cabot Bands To Host AR 10 Mile Classic


The 2nd annual Arkansas 10 Mile Classic is sponsored by the Cabot Bands and all proceeds will benefit the band program.

When: Saturday, April 16th – 5:00 p.m.
Where: Murray Park – 5900 Rebsamen Park Road, Little Rock, 72201

Race Day Information:

  • Race day registration will be from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

  • Early packet pick-up will be at Go! Running (1819 N. Grant St. Little Rock) on Friday, April 15th from 12:00-6:00 p.m.

  • Packet pick-up on race day will be from 3:00-4:30 p.m. at Murray Park

Race Fees:

Adults (18 and over) - $25 ($28 after March 20, 2016)
Kids (under 18) - $20 ($23 after March 20, 2016)
Virtual Runner - $25

All sponsors, whether a business, family, or individual, will be listed on the back of the race t-shirt and will be announced at the Awards Presentation following the race. All sponsorships must be turned in by April 1st in order to appear on the race shirt.

CHS Students Sweep Math Competition

More than 90 Cabot students participated in the Arkansas Council of Teacher of Mathematics Regional Math Competition recently.

Students from Cabot High School and several junior high and Freshman Academy exemplary students won dozens of awards, even sweeping the Algebra II category.

Attendance

Please be aware of your child's attendance. Students can not miss more than 7 unexcused days during this semester without losing credit for his/her classes. To review the attendance policy, click on the link below and scroll to page 17. Please remember that a student's grades and attendance can be reviewed at any time by logging on to the Home Access Center (HAC).

Auditions will be held 1-4 pm Sat 4/23 at the FA.

Show held SAT 5/7 6 pm Admission $5

Washington DC Trip

Any 8th -11th grade student interested in spending a week in Washington DC and attending the 2017 Presidential Inauguration next January, needs to attend a parent meeting April 5th in the CHS loft at 6:30pm. Informational flyers can be picked up with Mrs.Sumler in room 1417.

Reading Skills Training

UCA is offering online reading skills and speed reading programs this summer for 4-Year-Olds through seniors. For more information or to register call 1-800-964-9974

CHS Earns Jostens National Yearbook Design Recognition

CHS yearbook featured in 2015 Jostens Look Book

CHS' yearbook, (name of yearbook), has been recognized for excellence and featured in the 2016 Jostens Look Book, celebrating the best-of-the-best in yearbook design and coverage. The Jostens Look Book is a collection of spreads and photos from outstanding yearbooks and their creative themes, cool covers, dazzling designs, relevant coverage, storytelling copy and action-packed photography. Along with design excellence, the annually published Look Book honors the important role well-crafted yearbooks play in helping schools chronicle the experiences, stories and achievements most relevant to students and that academic year.

Arkansas Lottery Scholarship Application, Seniors Only!

The Arkansas Lottery Scholarship Application is available now. A student must have a 19 on his/her ACT in order to apply for the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. Students must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and parents must have completed and submitted their 2015 taxes in order to complete the Arkansas Lottery Application. Click on the link below to learn more. Students must create an account first. They should not use their school email address in creating an account for the Arkansas Lottery Scholarship.

Basketball Tryouts:

There will be meeting after school on Monday, March 28 for any young man that is currently in 9th-11th grade that is interested in trying out for basketball. This meeting will take place in Panther Arena at 3:30. You must have a current physical on file to try out. There will be more information shared at this meeting.
