Chicken Dinner
Thank you to those who came out to the chicken dinner and supported St. Louis. Thank you to those who volunteered their time to work (especially the students who helped clear tables) and those who donated desserts! This could not have been possible without the help and great chicken frying skills of the Batesville Knights of Columbus. We heard all night how great the food was!

Thanks for the donation!
St. Louis students and staff collected over 280 tubes of toothpaste and 400 toothbrushes during Catholic Schools Week. Thank-you for your generous donations! We will be distributing these items during our next mission trip to Gandou, Haiti in June. Again, thank you so much for your help! These items mean so much to those in Gandou. We would also like to thank Mrs. Brooks and the 8th graders for helping with the collection. We couldn't have done it without your help. The St. Louis Girls 5th Grade team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 32-4 victory over the St. Mary’s (Greensburg) Knights on Thursday February 6, 2020. The Cardinals started the first half very slowly only scoring 6 points in each of the first two quarters on their way to a 12-0 halftime lead. The Cardinals were able to pick up the pace of the game and started creating turnovers in a 12 point 3rd quarter to double their lead to 24-0. The Cardinals were once again lead in scoring by Ella King with 12 points. Madden Showalter added 8 points and Belle Young had 6.
The Cardinals next game will be Monday February 10th at St. Nicholas at 5:30pm.

St. Louis 5th Grade Girls vs St. Nicholas
The St. Louis 5th Grade Girls team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 44 to 3 victory over the St. Nicholas Saints on Monday February 10, 2020. The Lady Cardinals gave a very well rounded effort as they had the offense and defense working on both ends of the court. The Lady Cardinals jumped out to a 13-3 first quarter lead behind Mimi Smith who had 5 of her team high 11 points in the first quarter. Mimi then turned the scoring over to Ella King who scored 8 of the 13 points in the 2nd quarter on the way to a 26-3 halftime lead. Ella finished with 10 points. The Lady Cardinals then started spreading the ball around in the second half and were able to get everyone in the scorebook on their way to the 44-3 final. Madden Showalter finished with 9 points and Belle Young added 6 points.
The Lady Cardinals will now play Mt Carmel on Tuesday night at Mt Carmel starting at 5:30pm.

St. Louis 5th Grade Girls vs Mt Carmel
The St. Louis 5th Grade Girls took the court again Tuesday night February 11th 2020 vs the Mt Carmel Vikings. The Lady Cardinals started the game off slow and had trouble hitting their shots. They were able to use their defense to keep the Vikings at bay and take a 16-2 lead at halftime. The Lady Cardinals woke up in the third quarter behind Mimi Smith who scored 12 of her game high 14 points. This increased the lead to 34-3 after three quarters. The Lady cardinals were able to keep rolling behind Grace Gutzwiller and Olivia Leising’ s hot shoot from the field. Each Lady Cardinal finished with 6 points. Belle Young had a solid offensive and defensive game with 10 points and a few steals as well. The final score was St. Louis 46 and Mt Carmel 5.
The Lady Cardinals play their next game Thursday night at Central elementary School vs Greendale.

St. Louis Lady Cards vs EC
Last Thursday St. Louis 7th and 8th traveled to EC for basketball.
The St. Louis Lady Cards 7th lost 18-34. We had a great first half and held them 8-15. But just not enough for us to get the win. Scoring for SLS were McKenzie Maple with 10pts, and Lucy Abplanalp and Ainsley Sipples both with 4pts. We did a nice job defensively of stopping the shots and getting rebounds off the board. Nice job ladies.
The 8th grade Lady Cards pulled off a win against EC with a final score of 52-10. We were able to get all 10 players a bucket of some kind to put them all on the scoring side. Points went through as follows: Claire Saner with 16pts, Catherine Streator and Kate Weber both with 8pts each, Lilly Schebler with 6pts, Ava Owens, Izza Wonnell, and Lea Cossentino all scoring 3pts each, Madison Wanstrath and Rhea Miller both scoring 2pts each, and Sadie Wachsmann scoring 1pt. We really did a nice job of finding everyone and working the ball. Our press was a key to getting us to a point to be able to do this for our team. Nice work ladies a show of selflessness and teamwork for sure.
Crosstown shootout tonight here at SLS. SLS vs BMS come show support for the Red and Black.

SLS 7/8 Crosstown shoot out with BMS
Monday night St. Louis 7/8 Lady Cards hosted the cross town shootout against BMS.
The 7th grade St. Louis Lady Cards lost the game 8-64. While the Dogs never let up on us this game we continued to keep pushing and keep a positive attitude. Scoring our points were both Ainsley Sipples and Lucy Abplanalp with 4pts each. Nice job ladies.
The 8th grade St. Louis Lady Cards defeated BMS with a final score of 40-8. Scoring for us were Catherine Streator with 13pts, Kate Weber with 12pts, Clarie Saner with 8pts, Rhea Miller with 4pts, Sadie Wachsmann with 2pts, and Isabelle Wonnell with 1pt. We played a great defensive game with many steals coming from our press. Kate Weber took 4 steals in the press while Catherine Streator had 3 on the back end. Rebounding was an essential part of the game also again Streator brought down 11 rebounds this game. Sadie Wachsmann fed a few assist in there and Lilly Schebler was pulling in the loose balls that got us possessions via the jump ball. Over all a very nice game for all the girls.
We play Wed at St. Mary's Aurora, and Thursday home game against North Decatur.

6th Grade Lady Cardinals Basketball Results
Monday night, the 6th Grade Lady Cardinals traveled to St. Nicholas to take on the Saints. After a slow start, Rachel Suttmann hit a shot at the end of the first half, to bring the Cardinals within 2 points, with the score of 7-9. The third quarter, the Cardinals stepped up their scoring game and took the lead. In the last few minutes of the game, the Cardinals lost the lead, but with seconds remaining on the clock, Paige Watters came up with a huge weak side rebound and put the ball back in for 2 points, winning the game!
Final score was 14-13, bringing the Cardinals to 3-4 on the season. Leading in scoring was Bridget Lohmueller and Rachel Suttmann with 5 points each and Karsyn Watson and Paige Watters each had 2 points. It was a total team effort. Coach Suttmann and Coach Watson were very proud of the team's tenacious defense. Cora Roth, Meg Ritter, and Isabel Imel grabbed several rebounds. Katelyn Rahe and Jaelyn Owens played well on defense and weren't afraid to fight after the ball. Great job by everyone!
Thank you,
Coach Anne Suttmann
