It's the "Principal" of the Thing
As we begin to close out this year we also begin looking at the upcoming year. A great deal of planning goes into being prepared for students in August to ensure everyone has a successful year. One of the biggest tasks we take on as we finish up the school year is to work on class lists. We take many things into consideration when determining classes and teacher assignments. We recognize that as parents you may also have input that is important for us to consider. While we cannot take specific classroom teacher requests, we do want to know if you have information that you feel would be important for us to consider as we begin to form new classes.
As a parent you can give us your input if you choose to do so. This is optional and can be accomplished by requesting a form from the school office. Forms should be returned to the school office by May 1st. Please write attention Mr. Reves or Mrs. Casady on the envelope so it gets directed to the right place.

Board of Education Approves June 2016 Bond Election
The Olathe Board of Education has voted to move forward with a $156 million bond election. Registered voters who live within the Olathe School District boundaries will be able to vote in a June mail-in election that would help the district address its growth, safety and security, technology, and aging facility needs.
Projects within this bond proposal would touch every school in the district and will not increase the mill (tax) rate currently levied to pay off bonds.
Major projects of the bond election include land and construction for an additional middle school and additions and renovations to a few schools to accommodate a growing population; additional safety and security enhancements; additional student technology devices and updated infrastructure, audio visual equipment and telecommunications; and aging facility projects including replacements of asphalt, flooring, roofing, HVAC, gym and auditorium repairs and more. It will be a mail-in election due June 7.

Library News
Stop by the library during the Cedar Creek Celebration of Learning on April 28 for the first ever Library Maker Faire! Students can create a project in our library makerspace and have the opportunity to display it in the library during the Celebration of Learning. Maker Faire registration forms will be sent home in Friday folders next week.
The library makerspace is still accepting the following donations: Legos, Tinker Toys, K’nex, paper products (empty toilet/paper towel rolls), pipe cleaners, straws, paper plates, and empty plastic water bottles. Students use the supplies to create displays based on books they read.

Please refrain from using cell phones while driving through the drop off line and pick up line. Increased traffic flow in combination with bus arrival increases the chances for cars to need to stop in unexpected locations. We also have increased foot traffic around on sidewalks along the drive so heightened awareness of pedestrians is very important for the safety of everyone.
