Student Council Gives Back

Written by Dominic Cavacini and Mayer Taylor (Student Council Presidents)

Hello Havel Families,

This year student council will be hosting our annual can food drive, as well as, Toys for Tots. Our proud partners in these programs include the Kiwanis Club and the U.S. Marine Corps. We have worked with these trustful sponsors for years and we have made many smiles upon young children.

The can food drive will be held from November 27th through December 13th. We will be accepting all canned and non-perishable food items. Some foods that can be brought in include canned beans, corn, green beans, fruits and stews of many different sorts. We are also accepting Ramen Noodles, but it would be greatly appreciated if you’d limit the packs to two cases per child.

The Toys for Tot’s program is where we have all of the kids bring in unwanted and unused toys in its original packaging. This activity will start November 27th and end December 13th. All of the toys that we will be receiving will go towards a good cause. The items that we receive will be getting picked up by the U.S. Marine Corps and being distributed appropriately.

We hope to make a change this jolly winter season! With your help, we can help individuals get fed over the holidays. Thank you for your cooperation.

Pajama Drive

Havel’s National Elementary Honor Society is collecting pajamas to help children in need. Please consider sending in a brand-new pair of pajamas, in any size, to be donated to the Pajama Program to benefit children in Macomb County shelters and/or foster care. Scholastic Book Club will match the pajama donations with book donations! What a wonderful gift for those in

need-comfy jammies and a bedtime story!

Send all pajama donations in by Monday, December 11th.

Thank you!!
