Getting Through This Together
Superintendent MIke Daria encourages TCS families and says that the school system will make sure students don’t fall behind.
Logging On
Meanwhile, device distribution continues this week with students being assigned to specific sessions for pickup. Devices will only be provided during your appointment time. Parents will receive a call and a text message the day prior to your appointment.
In an effort to maintain appropriate social distancing, parents are asked to only attend their session pickup. If you have not already let your child's teacher know that you need device access for your child, please do so.
Safety Changes to Meal Distribution
The Tuscaloosa City Schools will implement a change in its meal distribution services beginning Wednesday, April 8, 2020. The changes are being made in an effort to reduce potential exposure to families, employees, and suppliers.
On Wednesday, TCS will provide three-days worth of breakfasts and lunches in the distribution. The changes also include updating the hours of availability from 11 a.m. until 12 noon. Then, on Monday, April 13, 2020, TCS will provide meals for the entire week, with a one-day-a-week service.
These enhanced precautionary measures are being implemented to maintain the safety and health needs of our employees and families. It is important for families to practice social distancing during meal distribution. TCS officials caution that if appropriate social distancing can no longer be ensured during one-day- a-week meal services, the system may have to suspend/cancel the program.
A Final Word
Please continue to monitor the TCS website and social media channels for updates. Time-sensitive system-level communications will continue to be delivered to your inbox as well as phone calls and texts.
