A message from your Business Librarian
While working on your assignment, keep in mind the University Libraries are here to help. I understand your assignment is a scenario where you are hired as a consultant for HealCo, a prominent healthcare provider based in San Francisco, USA, and AI TechMed, a leading AI firm from Seoul, South Korea. The two companies plan a merger. It becomes clear that the two companies have very different communications styles. The AI TechMed's team is accustomed to a communication style where silence, subtleties, and indirect expressions or statements play a vital role; the directness and immediacy of HealCo's approach feels too brusque and potentially disrespectful. This stark difference in communication styles is causing both teams to feel increasingly frustrated and disconnected. You’ve been hired to help overcome the communication barriers that may hinder success. You’ve been tasked with making two recommendations:
-How can the two companies address the cultural communications barriers.
-How can they foster an effective, collaborative environment.
When writing your report, be sure to reference the Functional Model and FBC Workshop website.
Below are suggested reading materials to help you build your proposal. The resources have been categorized and each title is hyperlinked for your convenience. If you are in need of further assistance, I encourage you to contact us, email me directly (reilly@uark.edu) or schedule a meeting.
