Brevard Public Schools will Close the Week of Thanksgiving
A new agenda item to close the entire district for the week of Thanksgiving was added to Wednesday's Special School Board meeting. The board gave initial approval which means the entire district will be closed from Monday November 22nd through Friday November 26th.
Superintendent Dr. Mark Mullins advocated for the change as a way to give staff and families more time with loved ones during what has been a challenging first few months of the school year.
This unique possibility only exists because of the dedication of BPS staff and our families who have faced a COVID-19 surge at the start of the school year and had to deal with a nationwide worker shortage, which has lead to extra work in the classroom for BPS staff. This is also made possible by the fact that we do not have any hurricane school days to make up.
Please know that we are getting this information to employees and families as soon as possible because we are aware that the timing of this change in a school calendar impacts the lives of tens of thousands of people.

Arrival Reminders
The first bell rings at 8:00. At that time, classroom doors open. It is imperative that students be in class and ready to learn by 8:15. Students who are not in the classroom by 8:15 are considered tardy.
Our car loop is very busy in the mornings with students arriving to school. To make the car loop more efficient, we are asking that students are dropped off at the next gate available and not just by their grade level hallways. This will allow cars to pull up to the next gate instead of having gaps in car line. The tardy bell rings at 8:15 and students are expected to be in their classrooms when the bell rings. Please help your student by making sure that they arrive on campus with time to get to class or to acquire breakfast if needed. We appreciate your help.
