Cool Cat News

Principal Brief

October 19-23

Cool Cats! It has been a wonderful parent conference week (and some of you, month). Parents are informed about their student's academic needs and I appreciate you preparing conference sheets in advance, so that parents have the data to help drive their student forward. Thanks for staying late to meet the needs of your families. Great job!

Next Step in Guided Reading- The reading workshop has four balanced reading approaches. Read-aloud (above grade level) to model fluent reading and reading strategies, shared reading (on grade level) - teach strategies and support language, guided reading- (instructional level) to practice reading strategies with teacher support and differentiate instruction based upon need, self-selected reading (independent level)- for enjoyment and fluency and practice strategies that have been internalized. Teddi will attend PLC's on 10/22. Please be prepared to share with her your balanced literacy goals and how we can meet your needs.

Unity Day- 10/21 Please wear orange with jeans. The CAMP team has prepared fantastic activities during rotations. Wylie Way lessons should be reviewed prior to 10/21.
