Next Step in Guided Reading- The reading workshop has four balanced reading approaches. Read-aloud (above grade level) to model fluent reading and reading strategies, shared reading (on grade level) - teach strategies and support language, guided reading- (instructional level) to practice reading strategies with teacher support and differentiate instruction based upon need, self-selected reading (independent level)- for enjoyment and fluency and practice strategies that have been internalized. Teddi will attend PLC's on 10/22. Please be prepared to share with her your balanced literacy goals and how we can meet your needs.
Unity Day- 10/21 Please wear orange with jeans. The CAMP team has prepared fantastic activities during rotations. Wylie Way lessons should be reviewed prior to 10/21. Prek-2 will line up at 1:45, and 3-4 at 2:00, outside by the kindergarten door to form a unity circle. #wisdunite Pacer.org/Bullying has some excellent resources.
NW1 Ends/Grades Due 10/23- Put a bow in your hair! bows- because we are wrapping up the nine weeks with a bow- or for boys- ties- tying up the nine weeks with a tie. You may wear jeans with your bow/tie. Encourage students to participate as well. Please post Hartman newsletter on your class facebook page each week. It's a great way to keep parents informed.
PTA Fall Carnival-10/24 1-4pm At this time we have enough volunteers for the carnival. Professional staff- we are asking that you attend and enjoy the carnival with your family. Your students will love to see you! If you are interested in volunteering for the Dunking Booth, please let Coach Haskins know.
Super Saturday PD in you PJ's- 10/24 - If you are still needing 12 hours for MLK comp day please register for this PD in Eduphoria.
Book Character Costume Day- 10/30 Please start communicating to your parents about Book Character Costume Day. We will have a book character parade and story swap. Staff is expected to share their favorite books and dress the part!
Elementary Professional Development for November 4 - Early Release Day
- Elementary Music teachers will meet at Dodd at 1:00 for all District Choir preparation
- Elementary PE teachers will meet with Tracy Halligan at the ESC for 4th grade track meet planning
- Elementary 2nd-4th grade advanced academics will meet at Smith Elementary at 1:00. (One teacher per team needs to attend)
- Hartman Focus- prek-4th assessing writing in the cafeteria at 1:00 pm
