A Message from the Teacher
Dear Parents,
It was so good to have four days with the students last week. We were able to get back into a routine. Now, we are working hard to review grammar and writing related skills. Please see below for what each group will be focusing on during our time together.

Reading Texts
Reading Writing Workshop Text ,"A Bird Named Fern"; Leveled Reader Text, Hide and Seek
Genre: Fantasy
Phonics- er, ir, ur, or
Skill- Plot: Sequence
Grammar- Prepositions; Prepositional Phrases
Spelling Words (continued from last week)- another, climb, full, great, poor, through
Words to Talk About: observed, vast, remained, certain, thoughtful

3rd Grade 9:40-10:50
Third Grade Students will be reviewing nouns, pronouns, and other parts of speech. Additionally, they will be reading short text to determine the best title. As always, students will be expected to participate in class discussions using complete sentences.
Content Objectives

- correctly identify, use, and apply what I know about nouns and pronouns.
- read a text and determine the main idea.
- read a text and determine the BEST title.
- read a text and answer questions using text evidence to justify my reasoning.
Language Objectives
I can:
- speak using complete sentences.
- listen to what my classmates say and respond appropriately.
- write about what I am learning using complete sentences.
5th Grade 8:40-9:40
Fifth Grade Students will be reviewing nouns, pronouns, and other parts of speech. Additionally, they will be reading nonfiction passages in order to determine the main idea and the best title for the text. As always, students will be expected to participate in class discussions using complete sentences.

Expanding English 12:25-1:15
Texts and Activities will include the following:
- A short text about a visit to Washington, D.C.
- Short texts to practice step-by-step instructions
- Short text to practice organizing details in a meaningful sequence

- identify signal words and phrases that indicate sequence in a text.
- identify and support with text evidence the correct sequence of events in a text.
- write about how to locate the correct text sequence.
