The Origins of Crater lake

Crater lake is in the caldera of Mount Mazama formed 7,700 years ago after an eruption.Crater lake is the deepest lake in the United States and is known for its blue color and how clear the water is. There are two islands in the lake, and, with no inlets or outlets,all the water comes from rain.Crater lake fills a nearly 4,000 feet deep caldera. it was made from the collapse volcano Mount Mazama.

When was crater lake found and where is it

Crater Lake is located in Klamath County in Oregon. And it was founded by John Wesley Hillman and named it Deep Blue Lake in 1853.And The lake was renamed 3 different times Blue lake, Lake majesty, and finally Crater lake.

Drive Around the Lake

Rim Drive is a 33-mile (53-km) road that

encircles Crater Lake. More than 30 pullouts

offer dramatic views of the park’s volcanic

scenery.Find the Phantom Ship

Anchored near the lake’s south shore is an

island that seems to be sailing away. To see it,

hike to Sun Notch or drive to the viewpoint

named in its honor. Have a picnic.

Watching the sun rise (or set) over Crater Lake can be

an unforgettable experience.
