LEA: Read with your Child

You are invited to come out and read to your child. This event will be fun, engaging, with enrichment with hands-on activities.
Time: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
- 4:30 to 5:00 p.m. - We will look at a the video, "Little White Rabbit", by: Kevin Henkes from the big screen SmartBoard.
- 5:00 to 5:30 p.m. - Parents will read the story to their child.
- 5:30 to 6:00 p.m. - Hands-on activities that correlate with the text.
- 6:00 to 6:00 p.m. - Dinner, Spaghetti, Tossed Salad, Garlic Texas Toast, Tea.
About the Book
Little White Rabbit wonders about everything. What would it be like to be green, like the grass? Or tall, like the firs trees? Or to flutter through the air, like butterflies? But the one thing Little White Rabbit knows for sure is that his mother will always be waiting for him at home.
About the Author-Kevin Henkins
Kevin Henkins is the creator of many books for children. He has written both picture books and novels, including Olive's Ocean, Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse, and Kitten's First Full Moon. Little White Rabbit is his forty-second book for children. he lives with his family in Madison, Wisconsin.

Activity: Move to the Music
Make a T-chart with the students that features what Little White Rabbit imagines on one side and the opposite of those ideas on the other side. Students and parents will move around the room the classroom. I will put on some music, when the music is on, they students and parents can act out of the things Little White Rabbit wonders about. When the music turns off, they can act out the opposite. ( Fun, engaging, activity that parents and students will enjoyed).
Extra Credit for students who show up and gift certificates for parents who attend.
