UIL Update
Our pep rally on Tuesday was a success, and the sign up sheets are filling up fast! Sign up sheets for 2nd-4th grade will remain posted for one week. Some of the events may require try-outs before determining final team members. Coaches will send out more information regarding try-outs, practice days, and event details in the coming weeks. I am also attaching a parent information letter about the different events. The UIL District Meet will be January 22, 2016 in Jarrell.
Pinwheels for Peace
Other grade levels are also participating in giving back to the community art lessons. Kindergarten and 1st grade classes participated in International Dot Day (pictures coming soon), and 4th grade classes will participate in the Empty Bowl Project (information and pictures coming soon).

Counselor's Corner
The character trait for October is Respect. Classes have been discussing the Golden Rule, how to show good manners, and how we treat our friends and family with respect. I have been reading a story named Chrysanthemum where other children tease the main character at school. As the class listens to the story they pass around a big paper heart and wrinkle it each time Chrysanthemum’s heart is hurt in the story.
At the end of the story, we discuss how mean words, teasing, and hurtful actions hurt people and their hearts. We then take a close look at the wrinkled heart the class passed around and discuss the moral to the story, “Before you speak, think and be smart. It’s hard to fix a wrinkled heart!” The kids then have a chance to write or draw on their own paper heart to give examples of how they can show respect to each other.
Weekly Attendance Rate
- 96%
Remember our weekly goal is 97%, so please make sure that your child is at school everyday from 7:45-2:45.
If our attendance average at the end of the 1st nine weeks is 97% or higher, Mr. Holt is going to shave his head!
