8th grade Celebration Dance

The 8th grade Celebration Dance is on Thursday, June 11th from 7-9 pm in the WWMS Cafeteria. Tickets are $8.00. Tickets are now on sale during 8th grade lunch. The dance is for WWMS 8th graders only, but parents are always welcome! We will have music, dancing, and lots of other surprises for the students. Some questions have come up about what students should wear to the dance. We request that the parents/guardians help to assume the responsibility for maintaining the high standard of dress we expect at WWMS especially addressing the issue of modesty. Please understand that WWMS administration will determine the acceptability of all items of clothing based on the standards of modesty and potential disruption. We have not had many issues in the past, but if you are not sure about an outfit, please ask. We want all students to have an enjoyable evening.

Young Men: dress pants, collared shirt, tie is not required but you look good when you wear one! A suit is not required.

Young Women: dress pants, nice top OR a school appropriate dress/skirt. Be sure you are comfortable in the dress and can dance.

Please do not feel you have to go buy a new outfit to attend the dance. We want as many students to attend as possible so please don't let the clothing stop you from attending.

M-STEP

The 6th graders are finishing up the M-STEP testing this week. All students must be completed with the tests by Friday, June 5th.

Results and reports are not expected until the Fall. We will mail the parent reports home when we receive them.

The 6th graders will take the NWEA tests June 8th-12th. Results will be mailed home with the year end report cards.

8th Grade Awards Ceremony

We will be having an 8th grade Awards Ceremony on Thursday, June 11th at 1:45 pm in our Auditorium. We will distribute awards for honor roll, leadership, NWEA growth, and several other awards. We do our best to recognize as many students as possible, however, some students may not receive one. This is not a graduation ceremony, but a way to honor our students efforts while at WWMS. Parents are welcome to attend, you'll just need to sign in at the front office and get a visitors badge. Please be sure to have your license or photo id.

The Color-A-Thon is on Tuesday, June 9th. Students who donated will be receiving their prizes soon. The run will be from 3:00-4:00 pm. It should be a great day with fun, music and Color! If you would like to volunteer to help please contact Mr. Keen in the Front Office.
