NWEA & ILP
With all NWEA testing completed, the ILP rosters have been updated. I will be sending you an email with a list of your students who qualify for ILP services. We are still anxiously awaiting the reading materials for the Kindergarten paras to begin servicing our reading ILP with more direct, intensive reading services. In the meantime, please be sure the students on your list receive direct instruction from your for ILP services. In math, the classroom teachers in grades K-2 are currently responsible for providing ILP services. This means small group and consistent usage of I-Ready. My suggestion is to meet with a group face to face one day and the next day they interact with I-Ready so you can meet face to face with another group. The leadership team is considering having 3 of the kindergarten paras provide reading instruction for ILP and 1 para provide math instruction for ILP. This is in the works. I will keep you updated.
NWEA scores were not as good as we had hoped. Many students grew significantly, however, the expectation was there would be more growth. That being said, you are expected to log on and view the Learning Continuum and use the groupings and resources to target your small group instruction to help students achieve their growth goals. We take the spring NWEA the first part of May. While grades 3-8 are doing test prep practice for GA Milestone, we will be doing test prep practice for NWEA using the specific data on the Learning Continuum. The test prep practice can take place in Do Now's, spiral reviews, workshop activities and small group instruction. We will be looking at the Learning Continuum together during your Tuesday data meeting this week. Please bring a laptop or chrome book to this meeting.
Handbook Review
During your planning last week, we reviewed a couple of areas in the handbook. I failed to review one portion that I wanted to bring to your attention. Please remember, you are expected to contact me by 5:45 a.m. if you are going to be absent that day. This provides me and Ms. Iyoha additional time to secure a substitute for your class. Telling me at 7:00 a.m. that you will be out sick is unacceptable and unfair to me and your teammates as the chances of your class being split equally amongst them is greater.
Please be sure your sub binder is updated (current rosters, copied work for at least 1 full day, emergency plans, schedules etc.- see the list of required items in your handbook). If you are absent unexpectedly and your emergency sub binder is not updated, you will receive a professional reminder.
