Thursday Packets Go Home Today!

Student Council Meeting Tomorrow at 7:00 am.

Note From Mrs. Gerloff

Dear NBE Families,

Everyone has settled into the second semester of the 2015-16 school year. Typically, the start of a new calendar year and new semester is a time to not only reflect on the past and recognize goals that have been met but to also establish the direction in which we need to head. As a staff, this is something we decide during our professional development days. We continually analyze student data to determine the best course of action necessary for individual student success.

As a parent of a student you may be wondering, “How can I help my child be successful?” The very first thing you can do to help your child achieve academic success is to make sure your child has consistent attendance. Creating good attendance habits at an early age will help your child succeed not only at school, but also later in the workforce. Another way to enhance your child’s achievement at school is to monitor their learning. Stay in close contact with your child’s teacher, ask questions, and review with your child materials covered in the classroom. Reward your child with words of praise when they do well, and encourage them when they are struggling. One final way to help your child is to set goals with him/her. Talk to your child about the careers that interest him/her. Determine the academic preparation necessary for that line of work by researching it with your child. In today’s society, almost all occupations require some type of higher education.

Sometimes the little things that we do as parents make all the difference. Tell your child just how amazing they are and how they mean the world to you. We are sometimes so caught up in our busy lives, we forget.

Warmest regards,

Mrs. Julie Gerloff
