Learn to Bike Program

Learn to Bike Program

The Learn to Bike Program is provided to PK8 through The Nature Connection. The Nature Connection will bring bikes for Kindergarten through 3rd grade students and work with students on bike safety and bike riding skills. This program begins next week and runs through October 1.


This year, our 3rd graders will be going on a field trip to ride at the Crossroads Park (at TNC in Hotchkiss) on October 1st, from 9 AM to 12 PM. They will split into two groups; one group will be riding and the other will be doing biking-oriented environmental education activities. Groups will switch halfway through.

Next week is Homecoming Week for the North Fork High School! We will celebrate with them and have our own Spirit Week starting Monday.

PK8 Fun Run 5K/1K on Saturday, Sept 26

We are excited to let you know that you have another opportunity to exercise, be part of Mountain Harvest Festival, enjoy a lovely autumn morning in Paonia, collect fun schwag, and show your support for the students and teachers of Paonia K8!

On Sunday, September 26, the Paonia K8 Parents Organization will be back at Paonia Town Park to kick off this year's Harvest 5k. The race is scheduled to start at 8:30 am, with pre-registration opening at 7:30 am. We'll have awards for various age groups, as well as youngest and oldest finishers.

Dress for Success

At PK8, we do not only learn by sitting at desks. We learn outside, we read laying down on the floor, and we move to learn! Please consider clothing given our learning strategies. The armholes of sleeveless shirts must come up to the bottom of the armpit. Skirts and shorts must be long enough considering flexible learning. And if a student raises his/her hand, there should be no midriff showing.


An easy way to check before you walk out the door is our fun saying: "Raise your hands, touch your toes, if anything shoes, go change your clothes."
