PHS Update

October 1st, 2018

Welcome to October!

And just like that, it's October. This week is fairly straightforward. PTSA meeting Monday night and College Application night on Thursday. Gio and Kelly will be at CAASSP training October 3rd and 4th.

We will monitor A+ movement this week. It seemed to go well on Friday. We will put together an update for staff, parents and students next week.

Otherwise, have a great week!

PPAD Corner

We are always looking for ways to work with our parents on helping our kids make excellent choices in life. Last week, we met with Petaluma Parents Against Drugs to plan future news letter briefs as well as discuss potential workshops and meetings at PHS and Casa Grande. In the next Trojan Update, keep an eye out for information from PPAD and ways to work together to keep our students safe.

A+ Update

We are six weeks into A+ time and so far, most reviews are positive. We will be looking closely at grades and discipline data year-over-year to see if we can determine any differences. Anecdotally, we have seen an enormous shift.

As promised, students were able to move by appointment starting last Friday. The online appointment system allowed students to make appointments with teachers with 24 hour notice. (thank you, Mr. Franklin and Mr. Napoli for all your work on this!).

Science Dept. Partners with Henry Curtis Ford for Fundraiser

Pairing with Desiree Rossetti (parent of Senior Ari Rosetti) from Henry Curtis Ford in Petaluma, the PHS Science Department raised money for science supplies this past Saturday. Each test drive earned the department money and by the end of the afternoon, $1300 had been raised! Funds will be distributed amongst the eight science department members to pay for various scientific consumable and non consumable supplies so that PHS students can continue to have hands on experiences in all of their science classes! This program was such a success the department is hoping to participate again next school year. A big shout out and Thank you to Desiree Rossetti and Henry Curtis Ford in Petaluma!!
