Horace Mann Happenings

Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
We had 100% attendance on Friday. We appreciate your commitment to helping us have a productive day of learning and facilitating school picture day. Having children in their classrooms on time maximizes every instructional minute for your child. Thank you for your partnership in your child's education.
Thank you for your attention to the calendar, monitoring Seesaw, and reading the weekly newsletter. We want to keep you informed of upcoming events. These tools will help you feel connected and to answer your questions. Parents are also welcome to set up a time to meet with me. I value your partnership and insight in meeting the needs of our families.
Drop Off & Dismissals
- Please remember that children can only go home with people listed on the pick-up list or by a parent note. Please contact LaTessa if you need to update your pickup list. Thank you for your cooperation in keeping your child safe.
- Morning dropoff is monitored by a staff member from 7:30-7:50. Families also have the option of parking in the parking lot and walking their child inside.
- School starts at 7:50 am. Please help us reduce the number of late arrivals to limit the number of classroom disruptions and loss of instructional time.
- The circle drive is reserved for our early childhood classroom drop off and pick up.
Thank you, Dr. Haughey!

Stadium Cleanup & Fundraiser - Saturday, September 14th after the 1:30 game
Please join us for this easy fundraiser helping with cleanup at home football games.
This usually takes about 20 minutes and we make roughly $150 per game to help with classroom expenses.
The more families helping, the faster it goes.
If you do not wish to attend the game, we ask that you show up at about 3:30 pm to help.
If we don't have family support, we risk losing this helpful opportunity.
Meet at the north end of the visitor’s section at the end of each football game; gloves and trash bags will be provided.
Mark your calendar for our other clean-up dates!

The Director's Dialogue
From self portraits in Mrs. Buck's room to color mixing in Mrs. Yocom's room young children are playing and working hard to get to know their new school family as well as themselves as preschoolers. Thank you to the many families who have invested time and materials to keep our projects moving along. We loved having our pickle mommas in to help us cook this week in Mrs. Sheil's class. So excited about the fall that's coming and the experiences we will have!

Phyllis and Richard Leet Center for Children and Families
At the Leet Center, family relationships and children are our passion! At the heart of our learning together, you will find educators who see children as capable learners. Children learn through investigation, exploration, and communication. Our pre-school environment is a natural home-like atmosphere that is filled with inquiry and joy each day.
The Leet Center is also home to our developing outdoor classroom and we believe that all the learning that happens indoors can also be present in the outdoor spaces. Open-ended materials and carefully cultivated spaces provide a place for collaboration, thinking, and representation of ideas. Our learning community includes educators and university students who are working together to listen and learn with children. Children, educators, and families each play an important role in honoring the intellectual and emotional integrity of children.
