Outdoor Workouts to begin November 2nd.
We received the okay from our school district to resume some sports activity beginning the week of November 2nd. The workouts will be on a limited basis with some strict protocol in place around Covid-19. We will be taking every measure possible to ensure the safety of everyone involved. That being said, it is important that we are all aware that there still is some risk and these workouts are voluntary. We will not be evaluating players or making any decisions about teams for our upcoming season during these workouts.
The following plan is designed to be in accordance with the rules set forth by the ODE, OHA, and the OSAA. The plan right now is to split our players into two cohorts to keep our group under 50 participants at one time. One cohort will be 9th and 10th graders and the other will be 11th and 12th graders. Within each cohort, the players will be assigned to a pod of 9-10 players with 1-2 coaches. The players and the coaches absolutely must stay within their pods and not mix with other pods to prevent cross-contamination. There are no spectators allowed at all. Parents can drop players off and then pick them up after the workout, but cannot stick around to watch. Upon arrival, all players will check-in, answer questions and have their temperature taken before they can participate. Any players who show up late will not be allowed to participate that day. All players need to bring their own masks, bottled water, and hand sanitizer to every workout. Masks will be worn at all times. There is no sharing of personal items, equipment, etc. All equipment used during the workouts will be wiped down throughout the workout and thoroughly cleaned afterwards. Bathrooms will be available, but it is one person at a time. Social distancing will be practiced at all times with separate entrances and exits. It is important we are vigilant in following the rules set forth to keep everyone safe and keep the activities from being shut down.
There will be two workout sessions of three weeks each for all sports participating. At the end of the first session, a multi-sport athlete could choose a different sport to attend during the 2nd session.
Session I = Monday, November 2 – Saturday, November 21
Break = Sunday, November 22 – Sunday, November 29 (No sports this week)
Session II = Monday, November 30 – Saturday, December 19
Unfortunately, athletes who participate in more than one sport will have to decide which sport they want to participate in for each session. They can only participate in one sport per session. This rule is in place to prevent cross-contamination. I realize this is not ideal for our multi-sport athletes, but we need to make safety our number one priority. I will have zero issues with any players who decide to participate in another sport. I believe that will be the case with all of our coaches at CHS. There is absolutely no pressure for players to pick one sport over another or even participate at all. Again, all of these workouts are voluntary and these workouts will have no bearing on future decisions regarding teams. We will be using the turf field, baseball field, softball field, grass soccer fields, and our courtyard area.
There will be more info to come as well. In the meantime, please make sure all athletes are signed up on FamilyID (you do not need to pay yet) and have a current physical on file. They cannot participate without these things completed.
Our coaches are really looking forward to working with their players again soon! These past seven months have been very long and trying on all of us. We are so excited to get back to having activities again. But, please remember we will be following the guidelines we have been given.
Please email your coach for more information. The weather is changing so make sure your athlete has dressed accordingly for their workouts. NO ONE WILL BE ALLOWED INDOORS.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone out again.

Each student and coach will need to check-in/check-out for contact tracing. It does ask for your current temp, this will be the temperature that the coach checks you in with, so please wait to submit until you are at the check-in area.
Winter Sports Postponed for now.
We are still hoping for something to change so we can play.
Please Register Your Student-Athlete If They Will Play a Sport in 2020-21 or if they will be doing the Outdoor Workouts!
If your child is going to do the Outdoor workouts they must be registered with Family ID and have a current physical on File. No payments are due at this time.
Even though we will not begin our competition seasons until 2021, please register your child for the sport(s) they will be trying out for. We have opened Family ID for all 3 sports seasons, Fall, Winter, and Spring. If your child needs a new physical that will need to be submitted to the Athletic Department as well. The only thing you will not have to do at this time is to pay the user fee. Until we know for sure that we are going to compete we are not taking any money.Cheer and Dance student-athletes please register on the FALL Link.
The end of the 1st quarter is fast approaching
Cav Nation!
We are more than halfway through our 1st quarter of Comprehensive Distance Learning. We strongly urge you to check your student’s grades through ParentVUE. If your student is failing, please reach out to their teachers. The last day of this grading period is November 17th, at which time grades will be finalized and credit, if earned, is awarded. Four new classes will begin for students on November 19th.
Quarter 2 schedules will be released in the first week of November.
Students, you should also be checking your grades on your StudentVUE account. Don’t forget to take advantage of your teachers’ office hours if you need more help. Teachers have office hours every day after each synchronous class, and on Wednesdays from 10:45 - 11:45.
If you were unable to pick up your tote bag, please call 503-353-5812 to make arrangements to pick it up.
All in, All CAVS!
