Eagle Sightings January

Holly Wehner, Principal

Hello Eagle Families,

Happy New Year! We are almost halfway through the month, and want to thank you all for your patience. We have had quite a few surprises with the water situation and the weather. Our word of the month is Cooperation, and we know that although changes and unknowns are difficult, if we continue to work in cooperation as a community, we can get through anything together! School staff were prepped and excited for the new year, and so disappointed to have to wait a few more days to greet students in 2022! Now they are all off and running with their teaching and learning! As I have been in classrooms this month, I can see the tremendous growth students are making, both in academics and socially/emotionally.

With Omicron out there now, we are working hard to stay informed and ahead of it. Student safety is our first priority, as we continue to follow the guidelines of the Health Department, and practice our mitigating measures (hand washing, mask wearing, distancing when possible). Having testing available now for those who are possible exposures is also allowing students to stay in school! FHES is at its best when soaring with all of our eagle students! Please consider joining me in a zoom meeting to discuss celebrations or concerns, or just to chat! I’d love to see you there!

The FHES PTO needs you!

The FHES Parent Teacher Organization is in need of all new officers.

Please let us know if you have interest in being a part of a dynamic group of individuals helping to support students. With a PTO there are no dues - all parents and teachers are automatically members!

Please keep an eye out for information on the next PTO meeting in February.

Counselor's Corner January 2022

Later this month we will be welcoming community partners to teach social emotional and prevention skills to FHES students. Ashley from the Family Resource Center will help teach Second Step Social Emotional Learning (emotion management, problem solving, empathy and kindness, etc.). Maria and Brooke from SAFE San Juan will be teaching the Second Step Personal Safety lessons. Please look out for a letter to families regarding the Personal Safety curriculum - where we will be teaching children how to recognize, report, and refuse unsafe situations. Please let me know if you have any questions! Terra Holmgren, School Counselor
Meals are currently free for children

We would appreciate your Free & Reduced price applications; the benefits are many for both families and schools, thank you!

Reminder that the first bell rings at 8:15, please help your student start the day off right by starting the day on time with their class. If your student is going to be gone for the day please call the office at 360-378-5209 or email Jeanna at jeannarheinberger@sjisd.org to excuse your student's absence.

Thank you!
