News from the LS Library

Hello from the Library!
There are many exciting, fun things happening in the LS Library this Fall. Students are settling into routines and enjoying their Library. I am pleased to share that we have added approximately 400 new books to our collection this Fall! One of my professional goals for this school year is to increase student readership and engagement with our Library. I am very excited to circulate the new books to our students and encourage them to read a variety of literature.
As a reminder, students have a scheduled weekly Library class, but can return their Library books any day of the week. Please help your child remember to return any books that they have borrowed and finished reading so they can circulate back into the Library collection for others to enjoy. The typical borrowing period for a book is two weeks. I will be sending notices home at the end of the month if a student has numerous books that need to be returned.

Creepy Carrots!
Each Fall it is tradition in our Library to read the Creepy Tales! trilogy by Aaron Reynolds and Peter Brown. The series includes, Creepy Carrots!, Creepy Pair of Underwear!, and Creepy Crayon!. Even though almost all students have heard these books before, no one gets tired of our favorite books about the adventures of Jasper the Rabbit. Our read alouds truly came alive this year thanks to the Novel Effect app. As I read the books, the app adds music, sound effects, and other enhancements.
Students in all grades had the opportunity to make their own creepy carrots or crayons and hide them in the library or in books for others to find. We all enjoyed our favorite fun, fall Library activity!
