Bobcat Broadcast

November 20, 2020 and November 27, 2020

A Message from Mrs. Caudill

Rest, Relax, Rejuvenate! We are excited to continue with the idea of homework-free “Well-Being Breaks” for all of our major school holidays. We believe school breaks should be just that - a brief reprieve from school responsibilities like homework, special projects, planning, and grading. It is a time to reconnect with loved ones without the stress of school work creeping in. Therefore, all students AND staff will be free of academic-related work during the following dates:

  • Thanksgiving Break (Wednesday, November 25 - Sunday, November 29)
  • Winter Break (Saturday, December 19 - Sunday, January 3)
  • Mid-Winter Break (Saturday, February 13 - Tuesday, February 16)
  • Spring Break (Saturday, March 27 - Sunday, April 4)

Making sure that our students, staff, and families have the opportunity to completely detach themselves from school—physically and mentally—on the days they’re off is an important part of our commitment to honoring the whole person. (Leader in Me fans call this “Sharpening the Saw.”) In other words, we know our students and staff have lives outside of school, and guess what? We want them to enjoy those healthy, balanced lives!

Please note, I am planning on following this same advice, as a result, there will be no Bobcat Broadcast next week due to the Thanksgiving Holiday. Please look for a new Broadcast on Friday, December 4. I hope each of you have a relaxing break full of family, fun and togetherness.

    With Gratitude,

    Devon Caudill

    K-5 Report Card Parent Sessions

In striving to provide a rigorous, student-centered and engaging learning experience for every student, the district has revised the manner in which we report on student progress in the K-5 level. To that end, the district has adopted a new, more rigorous way to identify what every child should know and be able to do in each subject area and grade level and has adopted a new K-5 Standards Based Report Card.

Join us at one of the Parent Sessions listed below as we provide information about the process being used at your child's school and additional background information and answer frequently asked questions.

Updates from the Student-Run Credit Union

We know your school year looks very different but one thing hasn’t changed, Community Financial Credit Union is still here to support you! Whether you are learning on-line or in person, we are thinking of you.

Community Financial encourages students to continue to set savings goals. Student members can make a deposit at one of our branches, or can keep their money safe in a piggybank for when the Amerman Student-Run Credit Union can operate once again in school. We are providing a goal sheet to help you keep track of your savings goal. Student credit union members and non-members alike may participate. Simply print the goal sheet below to start keeping track of your goal. Once you have completed your savings goal, drop off your goal sheet at a branch, or email a copy to lsimons@cfcu.org. You will receive a prize if you do!

If you are interested in opening an account, you may do so at any time during the school year. Please visit www.cfcu.org/scu to open an account online. These are dividend bearing, fee-free savings accounts with Community Financial Credit Union. Savings accounts may be used at school (when the Student-Run Credit Union is operational), online, or at any Community Financial branch during regular business hours.

    • Call your child in using the attendance line at your school
    • Identify any symptom(s) your child is having
    • If you are taking your child to get COVID-19 tested, please indicate so when you call.

If you have any family members in the household that have tested positive, do the following:

    • Keep your child home
    • Contact the school attendance line and advise that a household member has tested positive
    • The school or the district COVID-19 response team will contact you.

If your child has been identified as being in close contact with a person that has tested positive, do the following:

    • Keep your child home
    • Contact the attendance line and advise that your child was in close contact with a person who tested positive.
    • The school or the district COVID-19 response team will contact you.

If you take your child to be COVID-19 tested, do the following:

    • Keep your child home
    • Contact the attendance line and advise that your child has been taken for COVID-19 testing

November Focus: Responsible! Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

Every month Amerman Focuses on a new theme and Leader in Me Habit of the Month. The focus for the month of October is Be Responsible and our Habit of the Month is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind

Begin with the End in Mind means to begin each day, task, or project with a clear vision of your desired direction and destination, and then continue by flexing your proactive muscles to make things happen. One of the best ways to incorporate Habit 2 into your life is to develop a Personal Mission Statement. It focuses on what you want to be and do. It is your plan for success. Plan ahead and set some goals - begin with the end in mind.

If you would like to recognize your child for being proactive or using Habit 2: Be Begin with the End in Mind at home, please fill out the following Bobcat Boost and return it to your child's teacher.

    Big picture

Additionally, this year, on the back of the white envelopes being sent home, you will find our monthly Amerman Leader In Me calendar. We have included this as a resource for families to help bridge the home-school connection. Each month, you will see what habit is being taught, what personal trait in being highlighted, and conversation starters for you and your child. I have attached several pictures below for your convenience. You do not need to sign it each month but hope that it helps your child communicate how they are learning to live a balanced and healthy life inside and outside of school.
