St Cecilia's News
St Cecilia's Catholic Primary School - June 2018
Don't forget - We are CLOSED this Monday - 2nd July!
PTA Fair - Saturday 7th July
The PTA have planned a lovely range of stalls and activities and with the good weather we are having it looks like it will be a memorable afternoon.
Please come along with lots of change, there are a range of food options, some entertainment and the teaching staff are running a bar on the field.
Next Friday, 6th July, we will have the traditional PTA bottle Mufti day - donations will be gratefully accepted at the gate as the children come through, this helps us to prevent any breakages.
We're very grateful to the PTA who have had some long meetings recently and to Paula Nasan, Siobhan Leonard, Stella Mezei and Sarah Mills who are heading up our PTA Committee and leading in the organisation of this event - many thanks to you all.
A BIG thank you to our parents
The PTA have recently agreed to support the school with the development of our library space with a fully refurbished library, all new shelving and additional book stock. We are hoping to open in September and are grateful for the contribution to the library redevelopment fund in these days of dwindling school budgets. Our new library will feature areas for all ages from Nursery through to Year 6 and is therefore an ideal space for investment as every child in the school will benefit.
We loved Sports Day 2018
Save the Date! Sports Day 2019 for Years 1-6 on Thursday 13th July 2019
Borough Sports 2018
"On Tuesday 26th June a team of 40 runners from Years 3,4,5 and 6 participated in the Borough Sports Athletics Event at the David Weir Centre. The children did brilliantly on such a hot day and we had many individual and team successes. They should be commended for their sportsmanship, behaviour and determination to succeed. Well done team and thank you to all our fantastic supporters!"
Sutton Borough Swim Gala
St. Cecilia’s entered the Sutton Borough Swimming Gala. This was the higher seeded school gala; so a tough competition. We took a fantastic team of 15 swimmers who impressed us with their positive attitudes, great sportsmanship and excellent behaviour on the pool side. Everybody in the team gave 100% and we were so proud of how they flew through the water!
The races were extremely close and overall we came 6/8. Bronze medals were won by:
Fintan Deasy - Year 5 Breast Stroke;
Annmarie Krige - Year 5 Freestyle;
Zac Stevens - Year 5 Back Stroke
Matthew McGivern - Year 6 Backstroke.
Isabella Culp won a Silver medal for Year 4 Freestyle.
A huge WELL DONE to all our swimmers, who will be awarded certificates in this week’s assembly.
A very big thank you to Mrs Tate, who kindly took on the role as lane timer on behalf of our school - and a huge thank to all of our St Cecilia’s parents for their encouragement and support.

Year Ahead Meetings in September
We will discuss GDPR and our approach to data consent in more detail at our Year Ahead Meetings in September when you can meet your child's new teaching team. Each year these meetings will be themed, this year we will be looking at our work within Google GSuite and how learning can continue at home using school accounts now that we are working in the Google Cloud. We will take bookings for the Year Ahead meetings in September - and will send out details before we break up for summer.
Breakfast Club is open from 0730 until school begins and will be located in the school hall. Each session will be charged at £5, this fee includes the cost of supervision, breakfast and activity materials. All children will be dismissed to classes once the school day begins, our younger pupils in KS1 will be accompanied to class by club staff.
Breakfast will usually be served from 0750 - 0810 and will include cereal, fruit, toast and spreads and the occasional hot food item to add some interest - beans / sausages / scrambled eggs etc.
We will be giving our club a special name, we would the children who attend the club to help us in developing a shortlist of names for consideration - more news on this in the new term.
Payment must be made half termly in advance, more details about applying and other information from Mrs Dellafera at firstname.lastname@example.org.
We do accept payments for our Breakfast and After School Clubs through the Tax Free Employer Voucher schemes. From 4 October parents will no longer be able to join these schemes, parents can access details of the new scheme using the link below.
There's a new Government Scheme for tax free childcare - details here
Kick Off Your Shoes ( and donate shoes, school bags and back packs this summer holiday!)
Our School Council will be working with Mrs Carroll on the last two days of the term to accept your donations, they will have a table in the playground before school each day.
We are happy for children who have donated a pair of shoes to the charity to wear a pair of trainers for the last two days.
When donating shoes, we are encouraging the children to polish and prepare them ready for donation and to think about who may be wearing them. When donating, children may also include a short message from home to the child in Bilijo Nursery, saying hello and wishing them well etc.
