Professional Development Training

ESD 112 is starting a new Director/Owner cohort and we would like to invite you to join your colleagues in the field for networking and establishing a professional community of learning. Through discussion and engaging exercises, you’ll learn how to assess the climate in your program, consider the unique role perspective plays in shaping work attitudes and behavior, and implement specific strategies that will help you create a great place to work. In this kick-off meeting participants will look at how organizational climate helps shape the quality of work life for staff. We will also plan the schedule for 5 additional sessions. This kick-off will take place at ESD 112, Thursday, October 14th (12noon – 2:00pm) in the Skamania Room.

You may sign-up at https://www.pdenroller.org.

We look forward to this exciting new opportunity!

Challenging Behaviors

What are the essential elements in dealing with challenging behaviors? Child guidance strategies based on the authoritative style of caregiving help us better understand the children in our care. Supporting the development of positive self-control helps prevent behavior problems in young children. This class will look at the three essential steps to positive guidance with young children: understanding our role as caring adults, understanding the theories guiding our professional roles and reinforcing our knowledge of child development, that are fundamental to providing developmentally appropriate behavior guidance.
