Monroe Elementary News
April 22, 2022
From the Principal
Our 3rd and 4th grade students worked hard this week on their state math test. I'm sure they are feeling relieved that state testing is finished:) The results will be sent home or mailed to you when they are available.
We had a special guest this week at Monroe Elementary. Colleen and her therapy dog, Finn visited the 3rd and 4th grade students this week. It was a fun time learning about Finn and getting to pet him.
The newsletter this week contains sign ups for field day volunteers. If you are able, please consider signing up to help at field day. It is a fun day for our students and we are excited to welcome volunteers for this event. There are morning and afternoon shifts.
Have a great weekend!

Calling all field day volunteers........
From Food Services.......
The JA Food Service Department is asking all families to complete their Free & Reduced Meal application in Final Forms, regardless of need, due to program changes for the 2022-2023 school year. The form can be found below. This is also a great opportunity to update any of your child's information as well.

PTO News
Monroe Elementary's PTO will be having a Family Movie Night on May 13th. Come and enjoy a fun evening watching a movie and enjoying snacks outside on the grass field at Monroe Elementary. More information will be coming home soon including a sheet to send back to RSVP for the event.
The flower fundraiser pickup will be on May 3rd. If you have placed an order, you might have received an email this pst week that the pickup would be on May 6th. That information is incorrect.

Teacher Spotlight- Mrs. McCray
What is your name and your position at Monroe Elementary?
Claire McCray-Third Grade teacher
What's one thing you couldn't live without?
The obvious answer is my family and friends--but I also have to add coffee to this list. I'm not sure how I would function most days without it!
What is your FAVORITE thing to do?
My very favorite thing to do is sit on a beach with a good book. In Ohio, my favorite thing to do is take my dog on long walks.
Where is the best place you've traveled to?
I went to Hawaii with my family when I was younger and it was amazing. My husband and I are going back this summer and I am so excited to explore.
Who is your biggest inspiration? Why?
My dad. He is hard working and strong, but also generous, fun loving and kind.
What is the best book you've ever read?
The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah--I have read it multiple times.
What is your favorite thing about working at Monroe Elementary School?
I love that the small feel of our school means I truly get to know so many of our amazing kids. My colleagues also make this an amazing place to work.
Tell us something that might surprise us about you.
Mascots/characters make me very uneasy. Still to this day, I do not like when they come near me. I went to Disney World once as a kid and have pictures of me screaming and crying anytime a character was near.
