Character Trait for October: Responsibility

Principal's Paragraphs

October is filled with a lot of school events, including the annual Fall Festival, Parent-Teacher Conferences, and Fall Party! Please check out the calendar of events for all the upcoming dates.

We are looking forward to the fall weather! Please make sure your kid's jackets, hoodies, sweatshirts have their name written in them. We want to return them if they get left on the playground.

Car rider drop off in the morning is becoming a bit dangerous. Please make sure that if you need to park your car to help your child or walk them in, you park in a parking spot on the side of the building. Parking in the middle of the playground while cars are driving around is creating an unsafe situation for kids and drivers.

Thank you for supporting our school! From Skate Night to Run Like A Rock Star and Firehouse Subs Night - Belair Parents are awesome!

Current Attendance Rate: 86.6%

Attendance Matters

Every minute counts! Please schedule appointments outside of school time if at all possible! Every minute your child misses counts against their attendance, and counts against our school.

Any student who has missed 10% or more of the school year will be receiving an attendance letter in the mail next week. These letters are to inform you of the attendance regulations and to let you know that your child's attendance has fallen below the acceptable threshold. For the end of September, any student who has missed 3 days will have missed 10% of the school year. Also, students who have been signed in or out early 3 or more days will receive an attendance letter.

When attendance concerns are present, the secretary, principal, and other school officials must take action to ensure students are in school. This could include a referral for our school based social worker, Pamy Gentry to make contact with you, or a referral for truancy. For families who are at Belair on special permission, this could mean your special permission being revoked.

Please make school a priority!

Has your child or children talked about i-Ready? i-Ready is a computer based adaptive test given to all students kindergarten through fifth grade. Students are tested in both reading and math. Results are instantaneous for teachers.

This diagnostic information will help teachers target their instruction for all students in their class. The information gives teachers an idea of students strengths and weaknesses, and additional ideas on how to support students.

More information will be shared with parents at Parent-Teacher Conferences.
