The Draft Plan
TCS Releases Draft Plan for Recovery & Reopening
While parents will have the opportunity to select full-time virtual learning, the system must have a plan in place to serve the families who do not select this option. The system's draft planning includes serving students who opt for a "traditional classroom" in one of three ways: full-time in school, part-time in school or full-time virtual at home. The decision regarding which format to implement will rest with the district throughout the school year and will be based on local public health trends.
Families are encouraged to read the plan carefully to make informed decisions for your children.
Traditional Classroom
Traditional classroom learning may continue to be the choice for educational instruction by many families for many different reasons: personal preference, those with young students without childcare, those with learning disabilities and English learners.
All schools will follow federal, state and local guidance on health and safety issues, to include staggered schedules or school closures if conditions warrant.
Virtual Learning
Virtual learning from home may be a consideration for families concerned about the spread of COVID-19, those with medically-fragile students or household members, or those who found they preferred virtual learning during school closure due to COVID-19.
Families who select the virtual learning option are committing to this approach for the entire 2020-2021 school year, with a chance to switch at semester break.
