Week 4, Term 3 Newsletter
Tēnā koutou katoa! Greetings everyone!
The week started off with a bang, with wonderful learning opportunities occurring in the classrooms and offsite for students and Professional Development for teachers (attending a workshop held in Kerikeri about improving Literacy for our tamariki) - then it finished with a weather bomb! Thursday morning required a very swift change in plan with the buses coming to collect our students due to the river levels rising around the rohe. Parents and whānau come to gather their children to head home early too. Whāea Bobbie and Tamera were kept on their toes for a time there. Teamwork on the ground was the winner on the day!
Secondary teachers and I have been conversating about how quickly this term is going by, and the real urgency for our Year 11 to 13 students in particular to keep focused and finish well. I have been speaking to students and some whānau about progressing and changing course for some. One thing which has been highlighted to me is the need for time management for our students. We will be discussing this more in the coming weeks, and how to make the best use of our time. As parents and whānau, you can support your child by checking in on them to see how they are doing and ensure they are balancing their other commitments, such as work, sports teams, volunteering, church group activities, and social gatherings. Teachers have been making their classrooms available at lunchtime for students to catch up, and are offering additional support. Let’s work towards a great finish!
When I think of characters in the Bible, such as Job, Moses, David and even Esther, who had to persevere through circumstances, be resilient and stick with what they needed to do, God always brought them through those seasons in their lives. And as a result, each of these characters gave praise and glory to God for what He had done for them. My encouragement from all the lessons these Bible characters learned is that with God, all things are possible (Matthew 15:26). And you, too, can find strength, comfort and guidance in the Lord during challenging times.
Blessings,
Mrs. Tina Takimoana
Acting Principal
Verse for the week:
“ Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. “
Galatians 6:9
Student Mobile Phones - at school
Whāea Bobbie reports there has been no increase in phones being handed into her at the office each day, but that students still have them and use them during the school day. Mobile phones are an unnecessary distraction at school - if contact needs to be made home to parents and whānau, students can do this through our office.
Any phones confiscated by staff will need to be collected by parents and whānau.
Student Vehicle Registration Forms
If your child has a restricted license and drives a car to school, they must register this information by completing our Vehicle Registration form. Please make sure they see Bobbie at the office if they have not already registered.

Kiaora, my name is Rylee Brown and I am the deputy head girl of Kaitaia Abundant Life School. I have two siblings, one older sister and one younger brother. I was born in KTA hospital in 2005 and have lived in Ahipara ever since. I currently work at Far North Pharmacy as a retail assistant. In my spare time I enjoy hanging with my family and friends while going to the beach for a swim. I'm very passionate about Art and design thus leading to my future plans of becoming a designer of some sort. Next year I will be attending AUT doing a Bachelor of design majoring in fashion and spatial design. A scripture that stands out to me is Joshua 1:9-"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go."
Thank you.
