What's the Plan?

You will be taking a jam packed fourteen day trip. You will be traveling to five different exciting destinations. These destinations will include Bangkok, Indonesia, Phnom Penh, Cambodia, Hanoi, Vietnam, Jakarta, Indonesia, and Vientiane, Laos. At these locations you will go on some of the most popular tourist attraction. Although, there is a catch! You only get $8,000.00 to use for all of the expenses that you come across for this trip. Here is our plan for you!

Bangkok, Thailand:

Stop #1: Bangkok, Thailand

You will be leaving from Des Moines, Iowa on January 1, 2014 and flying to Bangkok, Thailand, for a spontaneous two day trip. On your first day in Bangkok you will see many things that will interest your "tourist" eye. First, is the Grand Palace. This is a famous building that was built in 1782 that includes many beautiful buildings. Second is the Temple of the Reclining Buddha. This is one of the oldest and largest temples in Bangkok which holds the popular Reclining Buddha, which measures 150 feet in length. Your third tourist attraction on day one is the Khaon San Road. This location is the traveler hub of South East Asia. This road is packed with restaurants, bars, and is a favorite for those who like to go out and explore at night. The best part about all of theses locations is that they are within walking distance from your hotel, so that you do not have to pay for transportation while you are in Bangkok. Hopefully you enjoyed your stay in Bangkok, although you have to head to the Bangkok International Airport to catch your flight to Phnom Penh, Cambodia. You will get to Cambodia on January 3rd.

Stop #2: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

You will be in Phnom Penh for an exhilarating two day trip. On your first day in the beautiful country, you will visit Sisowath Quay. This destination has a beautiful riverside and riverfront view. Along this location are various shops that are great for spending your souvenir money! Also on the same day you will visit the National Museum. This museum is close enough to Sisowath Quay that you can walk to get there. The National Museum offers a variety of ancient artifacts. After going to the museum you will call it good for the night and go to the Macau Phom Hotel. The next morning you will kick start your day by going to the Royal Palace. This structures displays the unique architecture of the 1900s. After you finish at the palace you will experience the Russian Market. The market is known for their great bargains and sells everything from food, souvenirs, and even electronics and clothing. Unfortunately you can spend your whole vacation in Phnom Penh. On January You will now go the the Phnom Penh International Airport and travel to Hanoi, Vietnam. You will get to Vietnam on January 6th.

Stop #3: Hanoi, Vietnam

You will be in Hanoi for two days. In Hanoi, you will be able to enjoy many different historic and interesting sites. On the first day, your first site will be the popular Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. This mausoleum was built as a memorial for Ho Chi Minh, and Ho Chi Minh's body is preserved and stored in the cooled halls of the mausoleum. After you visit the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum, you will then go to Hoan Kiem Lake. The lake is one of the major scenic spots in the city and serves as a focal point for its public life. You will now go to your last location of the day, Ha Long Bay. This bay being one that Hanoi promises tourists will never forget. After a busy day it is time to head back to the Hanoi Aurora Hotel. The next day you will start off by going to Huong Pagoda. This is a large complex of Buddhist Pagodas (Buddhist temples), several Gods temples, and communal houses. After you visit the Buddhist Pagodas you will then go to the Duong Lam Ancient Village. Duong is proud to be the most ancient village in Vietnam which still remains. Once you have spent the rest of your day at the village you will return to your hotel. The next morning, you will fly to your next country of the trip, Indonesia! You will get to Indonesia on January 9th!

Stop #4: Jakarta, Indonesia

Get ready for your fun experience in Jakarta, Indonesia! Hopefully you enjoy your two day stay in Jakarta! On your first day you will spend your time soaking up the sun at the Thousand Islands beach. This beach is known for its great beaches and diving. After your day at the beach you will return to your hotel and get rested for your next day in Jakarta. The first place you will go on your second day in Jakarta is the Sea World. This holds a variety of ocean life from the oceans of Indonesia. After you have experienced Sea World, you will visit the National Museum. There, you will see the history of Indonesia along with historic buildings and architecture. Once you have taken in the history of Indonesia you will go back to your hotel. The next day you will leave for Vientiane, Laos. You will get to Laos on 12th!

Stop #5: Vientiane, Laos

The trip has now come to the last stop. You are now in Vientiane, Laos. Your first tourist attraction that you will see is Bolaven Plateau and Tad Fane Waterfall. This waterfall is known for its great scenery and ethnic villages. The next destination that you will see is Luang Prabang. Luang Prabang is a World Heritage Site that features former royal palaces, more than thirty temples, and French architecture. After a long day of visiting well known sites, you will go to the Mercure Vientiane Hotel. On your second day you will see Vang Vieng. This location is surrounded by mountains, rivers, limestone cliffs, and rice fields. After seeing Vang Vieng you will then go to The Plain Of Jars. This site is dotted with stone jars, although there is no clear reason for why they are there. The jars are over 2,000 years old, and some believe that they were used to store rice wine, and others believe that they were used for storing the dead. Now that you have taken in the culture of Vientiane, you will now go back to the hotel and prepare to fly back to Des Moines, Iowa. You will get the Des Moines on January 15th.

During this trip, you will enhance your knowledge about the various South East Asian cultures. You will explore a variety of buildings from different time periods, that will also show you the different type of architecture in the countries. You will see many scenic views, and the most popular tourist attractions.
