URGENT - Changes to School Calendar!

The Superintendent has determined that schools are able to make up school days missed from Hurricane Dorian by extending early dismissal days. We have already made up hours from extending our school day on Thursday, September 5th. We will have a full day of school on Thursday, December 5th and Thursday, January 9th. Those were originally noon dismissal days. School will remain open until 3pm on both December 5th and January 9th. School will be closed to honor President's Day on Monday February 17 and Easter Monday on Monday, April 13. Please make a note of it.

Parent Teacher Conferences

We are looking forward to our Mandatory Parent Teacher Conferences today and tomorrow.

Grades K-4: Parents of students in kindergarten through fourth grade have a scheduled conference time. Conference times were sent home in white envelopes last Thursday. If you are unsure of your conference time, please call the school office at 686-6415.

Grades 5-8: Parents should pick up progress reports from the middle school hallway and then choose which teacher(s) they would like to meet with. Middle School teachers are available for conferences on Thursday from 2:30-6:30pm and Friday from 2:30-3:30pm.

Reminders for ALL PARENTS:

  • Please come prepared to conferences with any questions or concerns that you might have.
  • Please remember that all conferences are limited to ten minutes. If, after ten minutes, you find you require additional time, we would love to schedule another time for you to come in for a conference.
  • Conferences are for parents only; children/students should not attend the conference.

2pm Dismissal Today and Tomorrow

Please remember that we will dismiss at 2pm today and tomorrow (Friday) to allow time for Parent Teacher Conferences. Students not picked up by 2:30pm on Thursday and Friday will be sent to aftercare. Aftercare will be available until 6pm.

Accessing Grades on Renweb

We understand that parents are having difficulty accessing their child's grades on Renweb. We apologize for the inconvenience. We have reached out to Renweb. It is an issue that Renweb programmers must investigate and correct. We will let you know as soon as it has been corrected.

In the meantime, Renweb has identified the following work-around for our families to be able to access grades. When you login to check grades, please switch from "Term 1" to "Term 2". Then switch back to "Term 1."

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience. We are urging Renweb to work quickly to resolve this issue. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Auditions for our school musical, Alice in Wonderland, will be held on October 14th right after school. All students in grades 5-8 are eligible to audition for the play. Art Announcement

Look What’s Coming…..A creative opportunity to support our school and your child through the Original Works program. Ms. Benitez is working hard to ensure that all students will have an artwork entry in order to participate in this artistic awesomeness!! All artwork should be submitted to the Art Teacher, Ms. Benitez, by October 16th. Your child may pick up an Original Works approved paper (paper used must meet certain guidelines) in the Art room. Please do not use oil pastels, glitter, abrasives (salt/sand), scratch art or construction paper. Please do use bright colors, water color, pencil, markers, or colored pencils. The bolder the color, the better the print will come out on the OW merchandise. For more information visit www.originalworks.com/parents, or feel free to email Ms. Benitez @ebenitez@sjalakeland.org.

Additionally, we are still accepting sponsorships for our Fall Festival. A form with more information about opportunities for sponsorships is included in this newsletter by clicking below.
