WBMS Friday Notes
3/5/21
Reflections from Ms. Williams
WBMS Parents and Guardians –
What a fun time we had on Thursday during Read Across WBMS Day! So many of our staff members dressed up and some of our students – both F2F and at home – did too! Each class period began with laugher as our students arrived to find their teachers disguised as everything from Chicken Big to Willy Wonka.
As I walked our hallways and popped into classrooms, I witnessed students listening to a variety of different tales. Each teacher and staff member started the class period by reading their favorite book or a story related to their content area. Some used pre-recorded texts for their classes to listen to together. Book and candy prizes were awarded and lots of photos were snapped. I truly felt the love to reading and story telling increase each hour.
I dressed as Ms. Frizzle from The Magic School Bus series, and I heard, “Wait. Ms. Williams???” and “Oh, I loved those books [or that show]” on repeat throughout the day. Many educators selected books and biographies that focused on people with exceptionalities since this week was also Exceptional Children’s Week. Please consider continuing the focus on reading throughout this weekend in your homes. Grab a book, find a comfy spot inside or outside, and spend some time sharing a great story with those you care about most.

The Fulton County Board of Health and Fulton County Schools have developed an on-line portal for FCS parents/guardians to report student COVID-19 related cases. The portal has been updated for Spanish, Korean, and Chinese. FCS parent/guardians will find a dropdown at the top right for translations. www.fultonschools.org/ReportCOVID Please make a report to the FCBOH when your student is COVID-19 positive, has a pending COVID-19 test result, or has been in direct contact with a COVID-19 positive person. Also, please use this resource for official reporting rather than alerting the school and/or teacher. If you must engage the school/teacher, please do so after you have made an official report to the FCBOH. Lastly, to ensure the protection of our school community, please do not allow your child to attend school or school-sponsored events when he/she is ill and/or has any of the above COVID-19 concerns.
