December 8

Lunch with your Child

The Proud Dads Club of Bryant-Pattengill is inviting you (or any loved one) to join your child for lunch at Bryant on Thursday December 11. Our lunch period is from 11:50 until about 12:15, then students head outside for recess. Lunch with your child at Pattengill is on December 12.

Snow Angels, giving gifts for the holidays

If you chose a note from the Snow Angels display, please wrap it, and tape the note on the outside. Return the gift to school by December 10. Donations of Meijer or Target gift cards are also welcome.

Star Table!

Our class was chosen to be the star table on Friday at lunch! One class is picked each week and the table is decorated in a special way.

Winter Celebration

We invite you to join us on December 19 at 1:15 for penguin crafts and a special snack. A reminder, any food sent in to share with the class must be completely nut-free. Watch for a sign-up link in an upcoming email.

Saying Good-bye to Ms. Maslak and Ms. McDonald

We've had two terrific U of M interns with us this semester, and their last day is Tuesday. Our class will greatly miss their helping hands and warm smiles! Thank you Mary and Maggie! Best of luck in your next internship.

Reasonable Predictions

We've been practicing stopping to think while we read and making reasonable predictions about what might happen next in the story. Last week we also worked to support our predictions with evidence from the story by asking "Why do you think that will happen?" Ask your child about Harry the dog, and what happened to his sweater from Grandma.

What makes an accurate measurement?

We have been working on Unit 4 in Math, starting with measurement. Students have been using non-standard units (such as toothpicks, paperclips and cubes) to measure in the room. With practice we are beginning to understand that good measuring means carefully lining up with an object, leaving no gaps, and avoiding overlaps.

NEW PTO website

Check it out!

If you click on the fundraising tab on the right, you can find great ways to contribute to Bryant-Pattengill, just by grocery shopping or shopping at Amazon.

Parent Lending Library

Most Tuesdays after school you can find the Parent Library open right in Bryant's foyer. There are several carts with bins of leveled books. Choose however many books you need and return them the following week, or whenever your child finishes practicing with them. There is no "check-out" process, just browse, choose and go. You can also return them in your child's backpack. You can find your child's reading level in the report card, or contact me for more information.

Dates to Remember:

  • 12/10 Family Math Night at Pattengill and Book Fair 6:00
  • 12/19 Winter Celebration 1:15
  • 12/19 Break begins at end of day

Healthy Snack Sign-up

Students really enjoy having fruit and other healthy foods for snack. Thanks to those families who have already sent in some special snacks. Here is the link to our snack sign-up if you would like to send something in on a Wednesday or Friday.

Apple Tree

Outside our classroom there is an apple tree with wishes (on apples) for classroom supplies. Some of these items include:
