ELL December Reminders
ELL Specialist News
December Reminders
- Continue to work with ELL/ESD students and their teachers
- Seek opportunities to create inclusive, collaborative learning supports in Tier 1
- Make sure a hard copy of a student AIP is included in the yellow file
- Make sure a schedule of service is included in the yellow file (no last names)
- Update digital AIPs as needed
- Log consultation and service in ELLMS
Next Step....Thinking about Reporting
Reporting for ELLs will be required twice a year at the same time our Summative Reports go home to parents.
In December, continue to formatively assess your students as you work on their AIP goals. Observing and jotting down a few insights on how they are doing on ELLMS will help with the creation of reports later on.

Resource Ideas
Storyline Online
Storyline Online is a fantastic website where books are read aloud by famous people. All the videos can be watched on YouTube where subtitles can be added in multiple languages. In addition each story includes an activity guide for both teachers and parents. ELL students could be provided the link to the story ahead of time so that they could watch with parents before encountering the story in the classroom. Definitely worth checking out!
Holiday Music Map
This "singing map" from the Smithsonian features holiday music from all around the world. Rather than a name that tune you could try a name that country!
Calming City Walks
City Walks lets you take a stroll, day or night, in many cities around the world. You can even hear the street sounds! It's great to notice culture and it is also rather soothing.
Where do you want to go for a walk? Athens? Tokyo? Vancouver??
Check it out!
