School Counselor Appreciation Week to our Amazing Counselors!
Principal's Message
Dear Cougar Community,
Our School Counselors: Mr. Coston, Mrs. Griffin, and our counseling intern, Mrs. Barton always look out for all of us. The amazing work they do supporting students by sponsoring Olweus, our anti-bullying program; Cougars for Christmas, helping families during the holidays; and Nourishing Ninjas, our weekly food backpack program help to ensure that students are ready for school. They serve as liaisons to outside agencies who wish to donate to our students. Through the challenging year of 2020 they kept regular check on staff, students, and families to ensure that we all made it through this challenging time safely. Cougar and Manassas Park are definitely better places because of the care they provide. Please help me honor them by reaching out to express your thanks during the coming week (ricky.coston@mpark.net, brie.griffin@mpark.net, dylan.barton@mpark.net). They are our true agents of equity. Below is more information they prepared to share for their special week!
Please remember that Monday, February 1st is a Teacher Workday. There is no school on Monday.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Gwynn
Happy National School Counseling Week 2021! The theme this year is, ALL IN FOR ALL STUDENTS.
You might be wondering, “What is National School Counseling Week?” This is a week to celebrate our School Counseling Program! The CES School Counseling Program includes school counselors, administrators, teachers, parents and of course, students! During this special week, we hope to highlight the many ways our School Counseling Program supports our school community. In order to begin doing just that, please take a moment to watch a video created by our school counselors sharing information on the many uses and resources available on their Canvas Courses.
As mentioned above, the theme for this week is ALL IN FOR ALL STUDENTS. Our school counselors care about everyone! One way that they show that we care is by saying nice words to people that are “all in” for us, like your teachers.
Families and students! Please visit the following FlipGrid, and take a moment to say kind words to a teacher or staff member in our school. Not only will this fill your bucket and your counselor’s buckets, it will fill a teachers’ bucket, too! https://admin.flipgrid.com/manage/topics/23040234
Thank you again for always supporting the CES School Counseling Program!
Mrs. Griffin – 2nd grade and 1st grade
Mr. Coston – PreK, Kindergarten and 1st Grade
Ms. Barton – School Counseling Intern
