Note from the Assistant Principal

Dear Parents,

Your child’s education is very important to us. Your child needs to be in class every day to receive the best possible education. Texas law requires that a student be in attendance 90% of the school year as written in our LISD Policy FEC Local. Therefore, by law, a student kindergarten – 5th grade can be absent only a total of 18 days of the school year, or the student may be at risk of retention or possible legal action.

Elementary students who have missed more than 18 days, excused or unexcused, will be required to make-up school hours, four hours for every full school day missed. Students with more than 18 tardies will also be required to make up time.

If it is necessary for your child to be absent, please send in a dated note explaining the reason for the absence within 2 days. Absences without a note will be counted as unexcused. Please contact your child’s teacher as soon as possible to coordinate home and school efforts to complete work. Thank you for making sure that your child gets to school on time each day.

Student Safety

Please remember to park responsibly on Crystal Falls and use our wonderful crossing guards to cross the streets (Mr. Monte, Mrs. Dominga). We ask that you do not park in the Fire Station parking lot or block their exits. Due to student safety, we ask that you drop your student(s) off in the K-2 drop-off line (off of Christine Dr.) in the morning or in the front of the building. We have teachers and staff on duty from 7:25am-7:45am to ensure our Wildcats get in to the building and out to the 3rd grade portables safely. If your student is late, please drop them off in the front of the building so that they can check in at the office. All of the measures we have in place during parent drop-off will support an effective system and ensure student safety. Thank you for your support!

Whitestone Elementary

At Whitestone Elementary we are inspiring the leaders and thinkers of the future.

Due to the requirements of our state testing, we ask that parents and volunteers not eat lunch with their student(s) and/or volunteer on these testing days.
