About Jesse's House
Since its inception in 1998, Jesse’s House has taken in more than 555 young women from 21 counties across the greater Atlanta area including: Banks, Barrow, Catoosa, Cherokee, Clarke, Dawson, DeKalb, Douglas, Elbert, Fannin, Floyd, Forsyth, Gwinnett, Hall, Lumpkin, Meriwether, Stephens, Union, Walker, White, and Whitfield. The shelter has three main goals they strive for on a daily basis: to serve high risk girls between the ages of seven and seventeen who are referred from the Department of Family and Children’s Services or Department of Juvenile Justice; to reunify the residents with their families whenever possible; and to provide a safe house until permanent placement is found.
While our primary goal is to provide emergency care, our larger goals include providing healing from the wounds of abuse and increasing each girl’s opportunities for future success. The capacity to offer a rich and extended set of resources distinguishes Jesse’s House among emergency shelters of its type, allowing it to become a truly valuable organization for the greater Atlanta area.
