It is very confusing for students as well as teachers to change transportation plans or alternate between day care, parent pick-up and buses. Additionally, accepting changes by telephone or email does not allow us to provide maximum safety measures for our students. Therefore, should there be a need to change transportation, a written note to the teacher from the child’s parent or guardian (with a phone number already in our student information database) indicating the change in transportation home is required on the morning of the change. Parents may request in writing to the teacher that a student be allowed to go home with a specified person not already listed on the student data verification form or with a friend on a different bus. Students who have an afternoon transportation change will bring their note to the office to obtain a transportation pass. Bus drivers cannot transport students who do not have a bus pass signed by a school representative. In the absence of a note from the parent, the child will be placed on his/her usual mode of transportation.
If you purchase your child a new book bag, please cut off the zip tie and send their current tag into school with them. We will attach it with a new zip tie to their new book bag.
SCHOOL HOURS & ABSENCES
School hours are from 8:15 AM to 2:45 PM. It is both the parent and student’s responsibility to be punctual and remain in attendance for the entire school day. Students are expected to make up assignments missed due to absence, tardiness or early checkout. Students arriving after 8:10 AM must be checked in through the office by a parent or guardian. Students are tardy after 8:15 AM. There are NO check outs after 2:15pm.
If your child is absent from school, please notify the teacher in writing the reason your child was absent.
Book Fair Information
Reading is the most important skill you can teach a child. Of all the skills children learn, it is the one you can influence the most.
We invite you to visit our Scholastic Book Fair and experience a celebration of reading that provides families the opportunity to get involved in a universal mission: encouraging kids to read every day so they can lead better lives.

PTA Membership and Contributions
PTA Memberships and Classroom Contributions have been relisted on My Payments Plus through August 31st. The Classroom Contributions are the monies raised to go towards the Winter and Spring classroom parties in your child (children's) classroom. Please consider making a classroom contribution to ensure our children have fun and interactive classroom parties this year! Along with your PTA Membership, you will receive a $2 coupon for spirit wear and a Mulberry Discount card for local businesses and restaurants. Thank you for helping to support PTA and your child's classroom(s).
BOOSTERTHON FUN RUN
Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the Mulberry Elementary Fun Run! It’ll be a 9-day program where we kick off with a Pep Rally on August 19, 2015. Families will have time to get pledges for every lap your student runs, and then we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on August 28, 2015. With our big goal to raise funds for Project Based Learning Labs, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it more profitable, easier, and fun. Students will also experience an amazing character theme, Big World Recess! It’s a global fitness theme all about playing with character. Donations will go toward Project Based Learning Labs and to the entire 9-day experience. So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!

Tuesday, August 25th for Pre-K-second grade, and Thursday, August 27th for grades 3-5, are important dates set aside to help you learn about the curriculum, instruction and opportunities at our school. Pre-k parents are invited to a special session with their teachers beginning at 6:00pm. All other parents are asked to arrive by 6:30 and go directly to the cafeteria where the evening will begin with an overview of school initiatives and a PTA meeting. This portion of the meeting will be followed by two classroom sessions. During the first session, from 7:00-7:35, your child’s teacher will discuss curriculum and instruction, as well as provide information concerning classroom procedures, grading, homework and behavior expectations. The second classroom session, 7:40-8:10, is a repeat of the first and is available to parents who have two children within the assigned grade levels. You may also want to use the second session as an opportunity to meet some of our special area (art, music, p.e, technology, literacy, math, ESOL, FOCUS) and special education teachers. PTA volunteers will also be in attendance and will be selling spiritwear.
As this is an important night for parents, we ask that your children not attend unless specifically requested by your teacher. We look forward to seeing you for these important sessions.
It is that time of year again!! Time to start "Letting your Imagination Fly". Have you wondered what the Reflections contest is all about? Reflections is a fine arts contest open to every student in the school!! This year's theme is "Let Your Imagination Fly!" You may enter in one or several of the six areas of art. The areas are Visual Arts, Photography, Literature, Musical Composition, Film/Video, and Dance Choreography. All entries will be due by September 25th. If you are interested and would like an information/entry rules packet please email Shannon Richardson at firstname.lastname@example.org. Can't wait to see all the wonderful creations!
