Important Back-to-Buildings update
Hello Bremerton School District families:
We've got some exciting news! Following the safe reentry of our elementary hybrid students, we are pleased to move forward on the next phase of our back-to-buildings plan! We look forward to welcoming secondary students (grades 6-12) enrolled in our Hybrid Learning pathway to the classroom this spring*:
West Hills STEM Academy grades 6-8: March 15 (Group A) and March 17 (Group B)
Mountain View Middle School: April 1 (Group A) and April 2 (Group B)
Bremerton High School: April 1 (Group A) and April 2 (Group B)
Renaissance High School: April 12 (Group A) and April 13 (Group B)
Students in the Hybrid Learning pathway will attend school in-person/in the classroom two days per week, supplemented with three days of Connected Learning (online).
- Group A: Monday/Tuesday - In-person/classroom learning
- Group B: Thursday / Friday - In-person/classroom learning
- Wednesday - Connected Learning (online) for A & B
The school day start/end times and schedule are being finalized and will be announced ASAP.
Our phased-in approach aligns with the revised recommendations announced by Governor Inslee and guidance from state and local health officials. The recommendations are based on data that indicates schools can successfully limit the spread of COVID-19 when they have strong health and safety protocols in place. And we do.
We have put tremendous planning and effort into our health and safety plans that meet the state’s health and safety protocols, including mask use, social distancing, and increased cleaning and ventilation. These measures will help us keep our schools safe and healthy and help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
*Please note: These dates are subject to change based on local COVID-19 transmission rates.
Secondary Families: Please complete your choice form by Monday, March 1
To allow us to plan and meet social distancing requirements, we need all secondary parents to let us know if they’d like their student(s) to return to school for in-person learning this spring, or if they plan to keep their student(s) home and continue with Connected Learning (online).
IMPORTANT: Due to the complexity of scheduling and need to “cohort” students for health and safety, at this time we do not anticipate being able to honor requests from families for their preferred group (A or B). We will make every effort to ensure that siblings are placed in the same A or B group.
Schools will be notifying families of their student’s group assignment once we have collected this important information from our families.
Please log-in to Skward and complete our brief choice form. We ask that you make your choice by end-of-day Monday, March 1.
If you have trouble logging-in to Skyward, please contact your student's school for assistance. Click here for step-by-step instructions for completing the choice form.
