Message From The Principal
While we had an unusually wild and windy ending to last week with Thursday's early dismissal and Friday's school cancelation, we got back down to business this week. Teachers have been eager to make up for lost time, and students have jumped right back into their normal rhythm.
As a result of last week's cancelation due to inclement weather on February 7th, we will hold a weather make-up day on Monday, February 17th, which was previously a student and staff holiday for Presidents' Day.
The Rising 9th Grade Parent Meeting and Dual Credit Night events that were scheduled for February 7th have been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 18th.

FMHS Cares
The Yellow Jacket Universe brought in an amazing $4,167.66 in just one block during last week's FMHS Cares: Fundraising Blitz. The money collected will be divided evenly between St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital and the 2020 Polar Plunge benefiting local Special Olympics.
While it wasn't quite enough to reach our goal for Mr. Scroggs to let students shave his head, it did meet the goal necessary to have the administration taped to the flag poles during student dismissal. Look for this celebration of our school's charitable achievement in the car rider pick up line at dismissal next Friday, February 21st.
We are tremendously proud of the generosity displayed by our students and their families. Thank you for joining with us to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Special Olympics.

Dual Credit Night
Our school is pleased to announce the addition of several new dual credit classes beginning next year (2020-2021). Students enrolled in dual credit courses receive both high school credits and college credits from the articulating university partner: University of South Carolina-Lancaster (USCL).
The new offerings include Criminal Justice/Sociology, French, Spanish, and Theatre. These courses will be offered on our campus and taught by our teachers. Students can sign up to request these classes through the counseling office. We will hold an informational Dual Credit Night for interested parents and students on Tuesday, February 18th at 6:30 pm in F112.
Dual credit courses will be taught in one semester with students receiving 3 hours of college credit and 1 high school credit per course. Each college course will last 8 weeks with students taking 2 per semester. A USCL placement exam is necessary for approval to take French and Spanish courses.
