Traffic Shift Expected to Continue
Ongoing construction will require us to adjust the traffic pattern at school during the hours of 8am to 1:30pm. Before and after those times the driveway will function the way it has all year. After 8am the driveway will be closed and all traffic entering and exiting campus will do so at the Farm Lane side entrance/exit (see the picture of campus). At the end of the school day the driveway will be re-opened for dismissal and will stay open until 8am the following day.
Take a look at this screencast link if you would like to hear a description of this change.
SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) April 10th and 13th
Pentucket Regional School District will be completing the annual SBIRT (Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment) program as mandated by M.G.L. Chapter 71 Section 97 on the following dates:
Grade 10- April 10, 2023
Grade 8- April 13, 2023
SBIRT is an interview-based screening for students about the use of alcohol, marijuana, and other drugs. Screenings will be brief (approximately 5 minutes) and conducted by our school counseling and nursing staff in confidential individual sessions. We will utilize the CRAFFT-II screening tool, the most commonly used substance- use screening tool for adolescents in Massachusetts. Students who are not using substances will have their healthy choices reinforced by the screener. The screener will provide brief feedback to students who report using substances. If needed, the student will be referred to our counseling staff. Results of the screening will not be included in your student's school record, nor will results be shared with any staff other than the SBIRT Team.
As previously stated, you have the right to opt your child out of this screening. Please fill out and return the form below if you wish to OPT OUT of this screening. Additionally, students may choose not to answer any or all of the screening questions.
One way to prevent youth substance use is to talk with your child about your family's values and expectations regarding substance use. Research shows that parents' influence is the #1 reason young people decide not to drink alcohol. Together, schools and parents can make a difference for the youth in the Pentucket community. Please see the back of this notification for links to helpful information. As always, feel free to contact the school nurse or principal for additional information.
Sincerely,
Pentucket Regional School District Nursing and School Counseling Departments

MIDDLE SCHOOL COUNSELING UPDATE
The middle school counselors will be facilitating a classroom lesson on stress management to all 7th graders on Tuesday, 3/21 (7 Claws) and Monday, 3/27 (7 Cubs). The concept of time management will also be tied into the lesson, as oftentimes struggles in this area can exacerbate feelings of stress. By the end of the lesson, students will know tips and tricks to manage their time effectively, as well as have an individualized "toolbox" with coping strategies and ideas for self-care to help with emotional regulation.
Please check the Middle School Student Services Resources webpage regularly for updates and helpful information. We look forward to sharing relevant and useful information with you throughout the school year to support you and our students!
