Parents! This year’s main fundraiser is the Harmony Fun Run! It’s a two-week program that kicks off with a Pep Rally on 2-4-19. Families will then gather pledges for every lap your student runs (30-35 laps), and we’ll celebrate at the Fun Run on Feb. 14th. With our big goal of raising $5,000 for the school’s activity fund, we asked the Fun Run experts at Boosterthon to power our Fun Run and make it easier, more profitable, and more fun.

Students will also experience an amazing character theme, MINDSPARK MYSTERY LAB! Boosterthon’s most exciting theme yet combines S.T.E.A.M skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) with character-building. While they're teaming up with the MindSpark Kids to solve mysteries, our students will learn five 21st-century character traits that will help strengthen themselves and our world.

So please help our school by reaching out to sponsors. Also, all families are invited to come out and cheer on your student at the Fun Run! Thank you for your support!

BIRTHDAY CELBRATIONS

Page 11 Section M in the Student Handbook

- Parents, guardians and/or designee may bring in any food product that is store or restaurant bought (prepackaged or in a sealed container). Food cannot be “home-made”.

- The principal or other school designee shall have discretion on when to allow the consumption of the food products within the school day.

- Teachers are required to notify all parents prior to the approved celebration date in case of dietary restrictions.

- The food products cannot be consumed or provided to students before meal periods, during meal periods, or in areas where reimbursable meals are served and/or consumed.

-Parents, guardians or designee must notify the school administration in writing 5 school days in advance if they would like to bring in any food product for their child’s birthday celebration.

MAP TESTING

From January 22-February 1, your child will take a MAP® Growth™ test from NWEA® on a computer or tablet. We give students MAP Growth tests to determine their instructional level and to measure academic growth throughout the school year (and from year to year).

MAP Growth tests are unique in that they adapt to your child’s level of learning. If your child answers a question correctly, the next question is more challenging. If they answer incorrectly, the next one is easier. This results in a detailed picture of what your child knows and is ready to learn—whether it is on, above, or below their grade level.

Since MAP Growth tests provide immediate and accurate information about your child’s learning, it’s easy for teachers to identify students with similar scores that are generally ready for instruction in similar skills and topics, and then plan instruction accordingly.

Following each testing period, you will receive a report showing your child’s growth, which you can review with your child’s teacher for more insight.
