A Look at Our Week

Science/Social Studies: This week we will continue our Social Studies unit on the 7 core virtues (giving, kindness, self control, respect, responsibility, honesty and perseverance). The students will learn about how to be a good character traits through various texts we are reading. We will discuss what each virtue looks like, sounds like and feels like.

Literacy: We will continue to set up reader’s workshop in the class. We will work on working with partners, building stamina with reading, working on what the expectations are during this time. We will also choose just right books, keep reading logs and set goals.

Math: We will begin to learn how to identify coins and their values. We will also begin working with word problems with double digit addition, as well as telling time to the hour.

Homework:

Read 20 minutes every night. Please let me know if you have questions.

Covenant Conferences

I have enjoyed getting to meet with each of you and to get to know your child better. Conferences will continue this week. If you have not had a chance to schedule a conference, please let me know I will be happy to arrange a time to meet with you!

Homework

Homework for this week will be read 20 minutes due to the testing. Next week the students will also have a math packet (2pages front and back) to complete. It will go home on Monday, Sept. 14 and due on Friday.

No School for Labor Day, Sept. 7! Enjoy a Day off!

The video below is a song that we are using in our class to help the students identify the coins as well as know their values. Please take a few minutes to listen. It is catchy and you just might get caught humming the tune :)
