Message from the Principal

Dear Carlton Families,

Campus safety is very important to all of us. One way to keep our campus secure is to use the designated gates that are labeled with the letters A-F to enter the campus. If there is no letter next to the gate, it is not an entrance gate and it should not be propped open.

We also ask that parents and caregivers wait until 2:40 to enter the campus. Parents that pick up their TK or Kindergartener should exit the campus at 1:30 (1:05 on Wednesdays) and return to campus to pick up older children at 2:40.

Thank you for your continued cooperation!

Mary Katayama

Principal

Project Cornerstone February Book of the Month

In February, our Project Cornerstone volunteers will be focusing on the book entitled, Today I Feel Silly by Jamie Lee Curtis. Students will learn how to name, notice, and understand their feelings and discuss how they have the power to choose how they respond to their emotions. Here is the information about this month's lesson and a link to the story read aloud by the author.

John Watson Memorial Basketball Tournament

Every year Carlton hosts a basketball tournament in memory of a former parent volunteer who loved to coach basketball. All children in 1st-5th grade are invited to sign up. Students can sign up by telling his/her teacher that he/she wants to play in the basketball tournament. There are no tryouts and no experience is required. Since students will have varying levels of experience, the referees will not blow their whistles every time students travel or double dribble, especially during the 1st-2nd grade games. The purpose of the tournament is to have fun and encourage students to play basketball. Games are about 15 minutes long. If a team wins then the team will get to play another game.

March Madness T-shirts - Limited Time Only

Coming this March, Carlton will have its annual John Watson Memorial Basketball tournament for interested 1st-5th graders. More details will be coming, but this knock-out-style tournament allows students to play basketball games during recess and lunchtime. March Madness T-shirts are available to purchase for this event for $9 each in the online store: https://carltonhsc.membershiptoolkit.com/store/product/MARCH_MADNESS_SHIRT

The deadline for purchase is Friday, February 10th. No extra shirts will be ordered, so the only way to secure yours is to order it today in the online store!
