Academy of the Arts at Bransom
January 30 - February 3
A Note from your Principal
There are always fun things going on at the Academy of the Arts. Last week so many of our students auditioned for the Talent Show. What a great show we are going to have! The judges had an incredibly difficult job selecting the participants.
Last week was a great week for some smart and brave students in a different type of competition. Our Spelling Bee was held Friday afternoon. It was intense enough to go through dismissal and a few minutes after. We are so proud of every participant. The Runner up winner was 5th grader Micah Wells. The winner of the 2016-2017 Spelling Bee was Scarlette Frasier, also a 5th grader. Congratulations to Scarlette and Micah. Scarlette will represent the Academy of the Arts at Bransom in the district Spelling Bee on February 7 at BHS.
In closing, I want to remind everyone that we will be celebrating our western heritage and the Ft. Worth Stock Show with a western day. All students and staff are invited to dress in their western attire - jeans, chaps, vest, cowboy hat, western shirt, etc. but NO GUNS of any kind please. If your child chooses to not participate, they will wear their regular uniform and spirit wear. We will pass out free Stock Show passes to students on Friday for entrance to the grounds on Friday before 6:00PM. I hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity especially if you have not already attended the Ft. Worth Stock Show.
Looking forward to a good week of learning,
Mrs. Burchfield
Registration News for Returning and New Students for Next Year
On February 16 a BISD Schools of Choice Fair will be held at Centennial High School for all students to check out what is going on across the district. In addition to elementary school and middle school offerings, the high schools will also have information about their unique offerings. This will be a great time to learn more about YOUR district.
Obviously, we want our K-4th grade students to plan to stay at the Academy of the Arts at Bransom but shortly following the School of Choice Fair, registration will be open for students to show interest in up to two other schools for next fall. Information is power so make plans to join us for the informational evening.
One primary group of people that need information about this fair is families with incoming kindergartners. I hope you will share this information around your neighborhood and with your close friends.
